If I understood the article correctly, unique rewards/gear are tied to the strike scoring and bounty completion. So in order to get them, you actually have to participate.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it's a jab towards all of the complaints about afk-ers during strikes.

Took Bunghole this long to find a conclusion to a glaring problem we've had for over a year? Geez I don't wanna know how they'll 'fix' the other ones in 10 years... In all seriousness though this is a turn in the right direction at least.

It'd be foolish to think this will really curb the issue, but I agree it's a step. At least those of us that actually do the strike will be benefitted, even if afk-ers still get normal loot from sitting around with their thumb up their rear.

Yeah it won't curb it true, but it'll at least get people to stop warming the bench and expecting handouts. I may not play anymore, and bash the game, but I'm still rooting for some sort of success.

I wouldn't call it a jab. At least we'll know who did what now.

Yeah. Competition rights when playing with friends, scolding rights when playing with randoms. Haha.
