But when you look at the big picture, Destiny is just a huge mess.
From the start, the Destiny we got is simply not the Destiny that was advertised. Abysmal story and storytelling, sub-par PvP, and an all around lack of original content. But it was fun, because it was new.
After vanilla, every patch and dlc for the most part was 1 step forward and 2 steps back. The quality of the content decreased noticeably. PvP overtime became a mess. Content was removed from the game or made obsolete.
Then came micro transactions. Maybe not terrible yet but certainly a shady business practice and at the very least a slippery slope.
Finally the overall ignorance and even arrogance of the developers is unbelievable by any standard, especially coming from Bungie who used to be fantastic...
Destiny has been a downhill mess since before it even launched. Obviously the publisher shares some of the blame here, but IMO most of it falls on the developer because they signed on with the publisher.

Not a huge mess. I see company that took a HUGE risk to create a new kind of game....that has attracted a new type of fanbase that no one has any experience dealing with. One that requires you to have the expertise of both a company that makes the best FPS ....but also one that has the experience of a dev that makes the best MMOs and Action-RPGS (ala Blizzard). All things considered, Bungie's done a pretty good job with a problem that few companies would have had the guts to even attempt. Microtransactions? Here to stay. Videogames haven't seen a price increase in 20 years, despite ongoing inflation. If it weren't for DLC and micros, you'd be paying about twice as much for your games at the register. So the issue is whether you want a $60 game...and then get overcharged for DLC and micros that are OPTIONAL.... Or whether you want to pay $100-120 for everything in the intial outlay.

I can see where you're coming from, but we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. I played Destiny a lot, and I had some good times, but in retrospect I was always unhappy with the game. IMO Bungie promised something and miserably failed to deliver. Maybe my standards are too high, idk. Just my thoughts
