Hey guys, I came up with an idea to get any piece of year 1 gear (not weapons) back to year 2/3 light level. Rather than making loads of new pieces of gear that look the same as the year 1 gear and making them available through faction packages, I think you should create ornaments for existing armor. This is how it works - If you have a piece of current Vanguard armor such as the KD Bogatyr 2.0 helmet for the hunter, I suggest that you create an ornament for each of the old pieces of Vanguard gear such as the Vermillion Stripe 1.0 (The Taken King), the Jackknife 3.2 (The Dark Below) and the Sanction Six (House of Wolves). This way, you can have the designs of the old pieces of gear but you (Bungie) don't have to create different pieces of gear with different rolls. You can just keep the same perks as you would with current ornaments. This method can work for any gear that you can't possibly get anymore (so Vanguard, Crucible and Faction gear sets). In order to attain this gear, Vanguard ornaments would be a guaranteed drop from Nightfalls once per week (for all characters), Crucible gear ornaments would be a guaranteed drop once per week for all characters from the weekly crucible bounty (along with regular rewards) and Faction gear ornaments can bring a new aim for players by dropping from every 10 faction packages (so from level 10, 20, 30, 40 etc).
