Midnight, New Moon, Tatakoi Plains
The wind whips across the grass, whistling softly in the darkness.
A solitary figure stands alone, a hand on the cross-guard of a dark-green, faintly glowing bone sword standing as tall as the figure.
Shadow watches the stars, watching the waxing and waning of civilizations, the rise and fall of empires. She watches the universe grow, yet slowly thin.
A change in the wind, a footstep.
A smile grows on her face, a small, sad one that knows the end of times and has watched it pass by.
The Ancient One waits with the patience of the Eternals.
Pants, mainly.
Anybody else who who wants to try their best.
Melee weapons and small-range magic and abilites, please.
Anne walked into the field, remembering of how this is where she first confronted Cyrus. The man that led the revolution against her father...and the man who turned out to be her brother. She spotted shadow, after getting a rather suspicious letter slipped under her door. A shiver was sent up her spine, though whether it was the woman ahead of her or simply the freezing cold she couldn't tell. "So. You seem to pick nice spots, hey?"
-
"I thought that the night sky always looked nice. Watching the stars die." Shadow looks down from the night sky to the young woman, her eyes holding an inner glow. "How have you been, young one? I know this place can be a bit... odd."
-
"Fine...for the most part. Had to rescue Deity for the second time. Just waiting on Zane to tell me our next move." Anne paced a bit, looking at the sky. She turned her attention back to Shadow shortly after. "So you're letter was a little vague...why am I here?"
-
"I find myself restless, impatient. An... itch, if you will." She chuckles, then turns fully to face Anne. "I wished to see how you have progressed in your skills. It has been many years since I have been a teacher, and I long for that once again."
-
Edited by Inflatablepants: 12/17/2016 2:35:02 PMAnne's brow furrowed as she walked to her side, keeping her focus on shadow. "I don't think I really need a teacher...."
-
"Then shall we test that boast?"
-
"Mmmm. We shall, Shadow. I really hope you don't plan on underestimating me!" Anne put her left foot forward and her right foot back, her stance strong as she drew Twilights Hope, the crystalline blade off her back and held it in her right hand.
-
"Of course not." Shadow's eyes close before she leaps into a backflip, her hand snatching the giant sword next to her. Landing a few meters away, she slips into a ready stance with the sword held by her waist. A shimmer runs over her, then fades. "Let it, Begin!!"
-
Anne begun to sprint towards Shadow, her blade ready to spring up to block an attack as she tried to close the gap between the two ladies.
-
Shadow leaps forwards as well, unlimbering her sword in a smooth motion. Spinning quickly, she swings for Anne's shoulder.
-
Anne swung her blade towards the oncoming strike, quickly clashing with Shadows blade with her crystalline blade.
-
Shadow spins about, her strike pushing Anne back with pure force as Shadow leaps backwards. "Party time."
-
the longest battle ever continues
Anne reeled back from the push of force, and grinned at shadow. "Hope you aren't going easy on me Shadow." Anne held her blade with two hands, the edge gleaming in the night as it pointed towards its rival.
-
"Want me to start fighting? Alright." Shadow vanishes amidst a wave of tendrils. Thousands of shadow-formed appendages sweep out at Anne.
-
"Oh Anne...why do you do this to yourself." Anne spoke to herself as she took a knee, and as the tendrils lunged she proceeded to swing her blade in long arcs, cutting them apart as they drew near as fast as she could. Though many ended up cutting her arms and shoulders.
-
"Mortals keep asking me why I hold back, as if I'm demeaning them. As if I couldn't be bothered to put my all into it. My reason is simple." Shadow leaps through the tendrils, her eyes pitch-black, sword trailing green mist. Half of the tendrils vanish, leaving behind a few hundred. The remaining tendrils attack Anne's left and right sides as Shadow stalks forwards. "Ever faced a sidhe king or queen on the battlefield? No one has, because if there was, there were no survivors."
-
Anne quickly brought her blade around her in a 360 degree swing, slashing the oncoming tendrils. Soon after she flipped back, gaining more distance between her and the onslaught. "Yes yes I get it...you're tough...."
-
"Because we were made to be." Shadow grins as she flickers forwards, appearing into a leap, bringing her sword down at Anne.
-
Anne brought her blade up, but that was a diversion. She extended her left arm, and suddenly a straight double edged blade, which Molded another curved blade on its side attached to a chain shot from her arm. The shogi hook wrapped around shadows left ankle, and Anne pulled, sending her foe collapsing in the air.
-
"Good!!" The tendrils pick up Shadow as the chain slips off of her now solid armor. "I was wondering..... perhaps now is the time." She reaches into a rift and pulls out what looks like an over-sized machete combined with a shotgun.
-
"Oh come on..." Anne drew her own pistol off her hip, and took aim at shadow with the black .44 magnum.
-
"Try me." Shadow tilts her head, then shifts her grip on the new blade.
-
Edited by Inflatablepants: 12/23/2016 8:16:43 PM
An open field gun fight would be death for both parties....
Anne's grip tightened on the pistol, and she quickly popped the magazine out of the weapon and loaded a new one from her pouch. "Not sure I want to. You sure we wanna use guns on an open field like this?"
-
"If you insist." Shadow flips her sword-gun into the air and it vanishes.
-
Anne readied her blade then, holstering her Magnus as she held her blade with one hand and pointed it at shadow.
S-s-sword duuuuuuueeeeel
