"F*ck!" Kent shouts in anger.
He dodges under the attack to the neck, punching him in the stomach, then pirouetting, kicking him in the side of the head. Immediately after, he takes a few steps back, waiting to see what he does next.

The head spins further than any head should be able to naturally. But there was no sound other that something similar to that of sandpaper rubbing against another object. And the same sound had reached Kent's ears again when the neck spun back into place in an eerie fashion. Immediately, the figure lashed out with its dagger again, this time at the weak point in the armor beneath Kent's right shoulder. The storm let up more, showing some of the figure's face. It wasn't Vernon at all, just hardened ash sculpted to look like him. It was an ashen double. A fake. After the attack on the shoulder, regardless of rather or not it failed, the double immediately drops its level and attempts to stab the back of Kent's knee that didn't have Despair driven through it.
-
Kent knocked the doppelganger's hand back when it went for his shoulder, punching it in the jaw - preventing it from stabbing Kent in the back of the knee. Kent teleports a few feet away. He uses his revolvers and fires six rounds - from each gun - in less than thirty seconds. The bullets - once hitting a target - send an electric charge all throughout the body.
-
While ash was a poor conductor of electricity, Kent still put the double back onto the ground again. It began to dissolve into naught but a pile of ash. Then, two other doubles appeared from black and grey distance. Upon close examination, they were even more crude than the last one, simply having the same general structure as Vernon. Of course, they were enwreathed in fire as well. "Stop this madness..." they both seemed to whisper. Yet, the words still reached Kent's ears. One had an ashen AR, while the other had a sword. The one with the rifle aimed down his sights and fires three bursts. Meanwhile, the second one begins to close in on Kent, sword in a guarded position. They seemed to be careful of each other, with the shooter making sure not to hit his close-ranged comrade.
-
Kent uses Mobeus as another shield to protect himself from the bullets. He unsheathes his sword, lightning surrounding it. Kent pushes his arm towards both figures in an arcing manor, sending large bolts of lightning down upon them.
-
Because the doubles are completely made of ash, the lightning does a minimal amount of damage. However, the sheer amount of energy itself does hurt them, blasting chunks out of their bodies. But, that won't stop them. The one with the rifle is stunned for a moment, but soon enough it unleashes two more bursts. Then the second double is upon Kent now, with a slight limp due to its legs being damaged. It swings at Kent in a diagonal slash, then quickly reverses its grip and attempts to bring the sword down upon Kent's shoulder.
-
Kent parries the diagonal slash with ease, and with one quick movement, he pirouettes the blow to the shoulder - whilst simultaneously slashing at the ash figures neck, cutting from the jugular down to its liver.
-
Ash begins to flow from the massive wound, as if it was the blood of the double. The double lashes out in desperation, aiming for Kent's visor. Meanwhile, the second double begins to close the distance while laying on the trigger. It seemed to be more reckless with its shots, now that it's comrade was practically doomed.
-
Kent teleports next to the ash spawn, cutting its throat with one clean swipe. Kent stands still, listening and waiting for whatever Vernon had next. Mobeus seemed to be going, but Kent wasn't sure how long.
-
By now, the ash storm had finally died, and given way to the view of massive, flaming walls surrounding a portion of the arena. It was like Kent was inside of a kiln. Then, two massive geysers of blue flame spew forth in front of Kent. Then there was the sound of the flames burning the air around them, consuming everything within reach. But the sounds had a rhythm to them. Like wing beats. Then, the racking of a shotgun cracks out from behind Kent. Followed by a kick to the back of the head.
-
Kent falls to the ground, laughing. "Hahahahaha-HAHAHAHA!" After not feeling emotions for so long, the sudden burst of them began to take a toll on Kent's mental state. He couldn't help but laugh at the pain. He slowly rises, then turns towards what had kicked him - his laughing slowly dying down. "Haha... ha.. heh."
-
He's greeted with a shotgun barrel shoved in his chest, and the slug it was holding. Behind the shotgun was another man, but this time it was fleshy. It wasn't simply made of ash, this was the real Vernon. Flames danced across his body, but they also formed a pair of flaming wings, burning brightly. After the shotgun goes off, Vernon speaks, "You're completely off your rocker. Stop this madness." The slug begins to burn hot enough to start melting through Kent's armor. Then, Vernon brings the flames from the geysers down upon Kent.

Edited by Old Man Kent: 12/24/2016 6:18:08 PMKent laughs hysterically as he falls to the floor, the pain only continuing this fit of hysteria. Most of the flames seem to move past Kent's armor due to Mobeus still being active - some managing to get through. "Heh heh..." Kent teleports from the floor to behind Vernon, where he drives the sabre into the weak point between his shoulder and ear. He twists and pulls down, causing the blade to slide down Vernon's back, cutting his shoulder blade. He then kicks Vernon away, pulling out his Chiapa Rhino's, releasing multiple rounds into his spinal column as he is pushed forward.
-
As Kent kicks Vernon off the sword, he summons a floating wall of ash behind him. This wall blocks a few of the shots, but one gets through and hits Vernon in the right calf. Once Kent stops firing, the ash from the wall rushes to Vernon's wounds, packing them and stopping the bleeding. Vernon seems to squirm in pain at this, but he gets back up. The then takes to the sky again, and unloads three more slugs into him. Vernon then puts distance between them before turning his shotguns into a sniper rifle. He takes aim.
-
This time, Kent is able to block the slugs with Mobeus. Then too pulls out his sniper, taking a few shots at Vernon, while at the same time moving around, making it difficult for Vernon to hit him.
-
Vernon also bobs and weaves within midair, doing his best to avoid the bullets. A few clip his wings, but they don't do anything to the flames. More fly past his ears, cutting the air as they go. Two graze him, clipping his ear and shoulder. Flesh wounds, but wounds nonetheless. All the while, Vernon's cracking off shots of his own, hoping to score a potshot on Kent. But once Kent stops firing, he leads two bullets in hopes of catching Kent's chest. He then begins to close the distance; turning the sniper rifle into an assault rifle as he rushes toward Kent.
-
Kent is caught off guard by the the two bullets shot at his chest, one hits, while the other is just barley consumed and turned to dust by Mobeus. Kent then does the same, closing the distance he pulls out his assault rifle until he is close enough to Vernon. Kent ducks down and tackles Vernon, picking him up a few feet off of the ground before slamming him onto the surface beneath them. Right as Vernon hits the ground, Kent activates the chainsaw on the underbarrel of his assault rifle. He puts it directly on Vernon's collar bone, digging into his neck, then tearing down his chest towards his stomach - the lightning on the chainsaws blade sending a painful shock through Vernon's internal organs, such as his liver, his left lung, and his kidney; sending most things into total organ failure. When Kent stops, he thrusts back away from Vernon, believing he'll still somehow have some life in him.
You're probably going to find some way around this, but that's fine lol
Not even Rage could keep Vernon alive after his entire left side's been cut to pieces. While he was being cut, he attempted to ignite all of Kent's wounds, and stop him for a moment. But with Kent going off the wall, it wouldn't do anything. When he had a chance to retaliate with anything physical, the chainsaw was already down to his lung. So, Vernon simply sat there, and accepted it. At least he could do one thing afterwards. There were no screams, and there was no desperate attempt at salvation. Once Kent had stopped cutting, the flames died away from Vernon, and the ash that made up the Kiln had begun to fall. Vernon'a eyes had glazed over. He was gone. But a bright light suddenly erupted from his body, blinding Kent. Then Kent could feel himself be tossed against the collapsing Kiln with ease. Once some of Kent's vision returned, he could see a male figure seemingly composed of pure light. It strode over to Rhys' body, which had somehow managed to stay in tact all this time. And then it kneeled, and placed its hand over Rhys' chest. The same light began to radiate from Rhys, but soon died away. The figure then walked back to Vernon's corpse, and lied down inside of it; and he promptly disappeared without a trace. Rhys then took a sudden breath, sputtering and gasping for air. He sat up within an instant, as if awaking from a nightmare.
Nah, I can't get away from something fatal like that. I'll only pull major Deus Ex Machina stuff if someone tried to instantly kill me towards the beginning of a fight. Or of course, in something like a tournament. Good fight, though. If I had stuck with Rage instead of going with Honor, I think I would've fared better.
As Vernon died, Kent felt a sudden release of anger fall from his body. All emotions he had felt during the fight vanished entirely - this however, caused Kent to fall to the floor, unconscious. All of the energy and emotion had caused Kent to crash, having not felt such emotions in a long time. Mobeus shuts down as soon as Kent hits the floor, blood slowly begins to pour from his wounds onto the arena floor. Rhys, in a panic, stands to help him - picking him up and carrying him back to Kent's ship. There, he puts Kent in a medical bench, allowing for his wounds to heal before he dies. He comes very close.
Good fight. I'm glad I could try out both characters. Rhys definitely needs some upgrades, but I think Kent is definitely good for now. Anyway, GG, it was fun fighting you.
