*She pushes the crates away, kneeling down beside Mari. Li'l S is visible now too. He changes to match her colors and despite lacking eyes or eye sockets, tears start to stream down his face as well.*
What's wrong? Why aren't you with Kari?

She cried harder at the mention of his name. She looked up at her, her face conveying extreme loss. There's only one thing that could have happened...and the suspicious bloodstain in the main courtyard seemed to fit in with all this..
-
*Her eyes widen and a chill goes through her whole body, starting at her face, wrapping itself behind her neck and sliding down her spine as she processes this. She had hardly learned anything about him yet and already his loss was unthinkable.*
-
She remained staring up at Sapphire, her eyes freely dripping tears onto her tear-soaked face. She was shaking quite fiercely, whimpering.
-
*As she looks down at Mari, something clicks inside her, a sort of motherly instinct. Sapphire wipes away the tears and sits down next to her, hugging Mari tightly and silently.*
-
Mari hugs her tight, crying into her shoulder.

Edited by Skatch142: 12/30/2016 6:55:04 AM*Sapphire closes her eyes, holding Mari close as she weeps.* I won't let anyone hurt you... I'll protect you... I won't fail Kari...
-
Mari hugs her tighter, which wasnt too tight as she's six.
-
You poor girl... You don't deserve this... *Sapphire seemingly starts to get upset by Mari's crying, tears starting to form in her eyes as well.*
-
She tiredly clings to Sapphire, the blanket beginning to fall off, the only thing in her besides fur was the bandage on her calf.
-
*She bundles Mari back up in the blanket and picks her up, carrying her back to the apartment.*
-
Mari cried quietly the whole way, her head buried in her hands.
-
*Tears started to roll down from Sapphire's eyes as Mari cried. She didn't understand why she was crying, she never cried. All she knew was that she couldn't stand Mari being upset and she didn't know how to fix it.*
-
Mari clinged to her. She was orphaned, she had lost all her family, her home was burnt to a crisp. She didn't know what to do. She was scared. Sapphire was the only person she knew besides Artemis or Nada. Mari continued crying, but she was calming down, slowly.
-
Are you hungry? Do you need food, Mari? *Sapphire asked as she walked, a still crying Li'l S moving in front of them so she can read what Mari says.*
-
Mari simply nodded, as she was basically mute.
-
I'll take you back to my a-apartment and make you s-something............ Do you want t-to live with me?
-
She cant really say anything and she isn't looking directly at her, so she just hugs her tighter, trying to muffle her crying.
-
*Sapphire hugs her close as she walks.* For n-now, that's a-a yes... *She carries Mari up the stairs to her apartment once again and then into her apartment.*
-
Mari continues to cling to her, her crying dying down as she became tired, the past week having worn her out completely.
-
I'll make you some salmon a-and then we can go to bed...
-
She sniffled, her eyes closed as her stomach gurgled.
-
I know... I know... *She set Mari on a couch and went into the kitchen. She would look back out at Mari every now and then to make sure she was okay before turning back to her cooking. She came back a short while later with a plate of salmon, a knife and a fork. She sat down next to Mari, handing them to her.* Do you need some water?
-
She nodded, wiping her eye before, picking up the fork and taking small bits out of the salmon.
-
*She gets up, filling a glass with water and setting it down on the arm of the couch. Sapphire then sits back down next to her.*
-
She takes the cup with both hands, sipping the water.
