What was the point of doing the Echo Chamber?

In the Echo Chamber strike the goal is destroy Theosyion, The Restorative Mind before it can revive Sekrion, The Nexus Mind. We do of course and everyone gets a gold star on their report card. However in the revamped Nexus Mind strike Sekrion is back and Takenated. Since it is generally accepted that the chronology of events in the story is in the order of which content is released this means that after destroying Theosyion Sekrion was restored anyway. So then what did we accomplish by killing Theosyion? Was there just another Restorative Mind that did it? Is Echo Chamber not canon because it's not on Xbox? The idea of there being multiple Restoritive Minds is disturbing.

I would like Bungie to distinguish, in-game, what Strike is considered Canon and Non-canon. That should help with understanding the difference between the actual timeline of Destiny and what is considered 'just a fun idea'.
I'm a big fan of all of the Strikes (burns withstanding) and I don't care if they are canon or not, but it would be handy knowing if what I'm doing is a part of the story and I should pay attention to the 'what/how/why' of the mission.

plus, with the non-canon missions, Bungie can mess with how the dialogue is delivered. A bit of IWHBYD added to Destiny.
