What does your Faction mean to you?
Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things.
But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star.

Edited by LadyBladedBlack: 1/11/2017 1:31:46 PMMy human Warlock is aligned with Future War Cult because she'd be -blam-ed if she up and left her home like the Traveler did instead of treating whatever the Darkness throws at her to shreds. However, surviving without bringing the glory of the Golden Age back or atleast the technology from it would be foolhardy. My Exo Titan is with Dead Orbit because she doesn't see a reason they should let the last of humanity (in all is forms) stay and be in constant danger from the threat of the Darkness that is right around the corner. With that in mind, Being prepared for a fight wherever they go is a must. My Awoken Hunter is with New Monarchy because it makes sense to expand and bring as much of the greatness that was humanity back. Now if evacuation or better yet expansion can't be helped, then certainly leaving would make sense. In others words, if we are able to bring humanity to a better place than it is now in any way then my ladies are all for it.

7 RepliesWhat do the factions mean to me? Nothing. I feel like they are completely useless in the Destiny world. If I had to choose my favorite, I'd say New Monarchy because it's a philosophy of strength and unity. Why would you search for other planets to live on when you couldn't even manage the one you had? And what good is preparing for future war when you barely have anything to defend? Or next to no resources to fight these future wars with?

I used to follow Dead Orbit vehemently, its all I would wear or buy. They were my guys.... But now? The Factions don't serve any purpose...they're just glorified gear vendors, there is no moving forward with their stories or their philosophies. There is no benefit to being a member of them save for getting a rank up package. Sure when you hit 25, you got a cool Exotic Mark, but nothing else. They need their own storylines, patrolling the planets should be part of Faction storyline/lore; gathering parts for Dead Orbit's ships in the Cosmodrome, Searching out new weapons of war on Mars for FWC, combing through the Collectives archives on Venus for New Monarchy.... I love this game, but there is so much untapped potential with 90% of the stuff in it, but at the moment...they just don't mean anything anymore.

I love the concept of looking into Earth's outer colonies for refuge, just because I wanna go out there and see more of our solar system, or dare I say the galaxy. However in the current state of the game itself, I've changed alliances to new monarchy on my main for the sake of unlocking whatever I haven't yet. I plan on changing back in the case of any sort of update, but I figured that if I have nothing to gain from my current faction, there's no reason to stick with them for the time being, until there is any meaning put into gameplay between each faction.

2 RepliesI am currently part of New Monarchy. That's because I'm trying to do the Exotic quest. My main faction is Dead Orbit. I have the same reason you have. I also like the fact that everyone else hates them. They hate them because they know that Dead Orbit has the right answer.

Autistically grinding for rank 25 to get the useless exotic class items.

Junk stuff because it's worthless. Got my exotic for NM-Hunter. Really does nothing so never worried about other two exotics. I stopped leveling gunsmith and most 390 drops. All junk.
