What does your Faction mean to you?
Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things.
But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star.

I cannot see how the factions can mean anything except weapons and armor, beyond that Bungie hold the key. Each faction has a statement but we don't get to play a role within the group. I like Dead Orbit but I get to do nothing for them, ranking up with them gets me gear other than that, what? Factions should of played a key role for us from day 1, a story line, regular quests and bounties, but Bungie did not see it that way. Some how they managed to create a game with very little story that is open and obvious. Logging onto here to read grimoire is very poor, instead of the story being in game. A cheap ass way to tell a story IMO.... Love Destiny though it just could be so so much better.

8 RepliesMy hunter was a young woman of the Golden age when the Collapse occurred, causing her to become an Awoken, and ultimately a Guardian. She still misses her earlier, carefree life and hopes to regain it. She supports New Monarchy. My Titan was a transit guard in life, and regularly protected people headed to other planets. The fascination with it never quite left him, and he agrees with the notion that the best way to honor the Traveler's sacrifice is to thrive in a new home. He serves Dead Orbit. My warlock is an Exo soldier, a purpose built engine of destruction. Rebirth as a Guardian gave him immortality and vastly increased power, but it did not make him something he wasn't. War is his purpose and his life. He wears the colors of FWC.

My charecters respect all 3 but they do have %51= preference. Titan - Future war cult. Warlock - Dead orbit. Hunter - New monarchy.

They mean absolutely nothing. Just a means to raise LL. Now if we were involved in faction wars as in i.e i am a future war cult member and we get to slaughter countless new monarchy supporters every month like a faction war iron banner then 🤔 they probably would mean a bit more. But no as it stands they mean F all.

While I run Dead Orbit, I agree more with Future War Cult's philosophy that fighting is inevitable. However, that doesn't mean going out and slaughtering everything that isn't Human, Exo, or Awoken.

My faction means packages, I don't really care for the migration thinking of dead orbit but I do like the way new monarchy armor looks though

My warlock is an exo, and supports Dead Orbit. He thinks that while it is necessary that we remain on Earth, we should explore past the Reef, at least to the Jovians. He believes that while The War Cult is right to prepare for war, the importance they put on staying in the solar system is poor thinking. We should not wait for the enemies to come for us, we should come to them. When his friends ask him why he hates New Monarchy, he jumps off the tower. He also thinks the Dead Orbit shaders are awesome.

Dead Orbit- they understand the same that Rasputin did, the need to spread out. If the enemy cannot kill us in one attack, then we can continue the war. FWC has their head in the sand. All their preparation for war is futile. Everywhere they look up and down the timeline all they see is defeat, yet they still think next time will be different. NM is a short sighted movement that doesn't address a long term solution. The best option we could do is follow Osiris and build our own pocket world from vex tech. Then we could prepare all we want.

3 RepliesThis is a really good question! I'm glad someone is bringing up this topic. Unfortunately, I would have to say... nothing. I joined one of each faction so I could get their gear. That's pretty much it. The factions in the game have been criminally underrepresented in the story. Bungie set them up to have such a big part in Destiny, with all the lore about them fighting to take over the Tower and possibly coming back to finish the job and the friction with the Vanguard, but it all just went... ... nowhere. So, yeah... I don't feel anything about them other than I'm glad they helped me level up. Wish I could say more, honestly.

Plus Hideo sounds less wimpy then Dead Orbit and doesn't have the ridiculous logo that FWC has on all of the stuff. Also my Vanquisher VIII holds a special place in my heart, been through alot of fights with that gun in both Raids and Crucible.

They are stingy bastards who won't give me Outlaw, Hammer Forged, Firefly on a high impact scout, like the Vanguard did in Y1. Now its all my characters want from their virtual lives.
