Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things.
But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star.
so what does your Faction mean to you? (answers may be read on the corresponding Faction episode of my podcast the Destiny Lore Cast, go check out our episode with Baxter from https://www.ishtar-collective.net linked above!)

Nothing.
-
Completely meaningless. They don't really have anything to do with the story in game, so are quite pointless.

Edited by Whap: 1/11/2017 12:16:27 AMI choose future war cult at the beginning for little to no reason and have stuck with it since. My faction rank is now well over level 100.
-
Possibility at decent rolled but most likely not weapons
-
We're emo space wizards.
There'a a reason we all have throwing knives
Loot!

I ally with Future War Cult. Their lore is interesting and complex, but it's not my cup of tea. I agree with their philosophy more than the others though. If Dead Orbit is a representation of the need to escape, FWC is the will to survive. Out of the three available factions I believe it is most important that we don't abandon this will. We have the eternal enemy of our god at our doorstop, who we were created to destroy. I am here to fight and fight I shall. The methods that FWC use, don't really interest me. But at one point the Darkness will come and it will force us to fight and live, or die. I choose to fight. New Monarchy has a good idea, to bring back the Golden Age and to push humanity's limits, which is good, and should be there. But it is pointless if we die. Dead Orbit is the one we could do without, or at least, in my opinion they are using their talents in the wrong way. At the end of the day we choose our favourite factions (lore wise) because we think the others have chosen the wrong option.

Edited by RedhorseRaven14: 1/11/2017 12:03:01 AMThey don't hold any significance to me, but my 3 characters each align with a different faction, so it must mean something to them. It's very possible though, that each chose a different faction in order to share all the available guns and stuff, I don't really know, because they never talk to me about it. Come to think of it, they never talk at all, just that annoying little ghost, and it never says anything important.
-
faction wars on patrol. might be fun
-
Bastards who never give me a wormwood drop.
-
I chose Dead Orbit so I could get the skull emblem.
-
4 strange coins and 4 motes.
-
War is enevidible. Fwc has seen all possible futures and we do not survive them all. There is no future without War.
-
I agree with you, Dead Orbit makes the most sense
-
It means they will have the same weapons with the same rolls until the next dlc. Dumb
-
I joined factions just for loot..
-
My faction means good loot. Aka never FWC
-
This war has no end
-
Considering there's next to nothing in game as far as story or lore, my faction means pretty armor and cool weapons.
-
I am a part of a cult, whatever I do is in the name and glory of my cult
-
I support both FWC and Dead Orbit. The War Cult recognise the need to keep fighting until The Darkness is defeated and I especially like the fact that they have real motivation and evidence to support their stance, because of The Device and the existence of The Exo Stranger. Dead Orbit I also like because they want to expand our horizons and help the Light grow. I don't particularly like the idea that we would abandon the Traveller though. New Monarchy are quite close-minded to me. Their views border on personality cultism and fascism and I can't get behind that. No one is incorruptible or unquestionable.
-
Fwc, can't lie. Have. Tattoo on my arm. Haha
-
I can't say that I particularly sympathize with any sort of faction, except FEC, which I might switch to. Dead orbit has an interest in leaving this solar system, but if we do that, it could be the end of us. Without the last city, there would be nothing in the way of the kings getting the traveler, and with the traveler's gifts, they could hunt us down after centuries of fighting and bad blood, finally having vengeance for all of the eliksni we have slain. FWC does make the most sense: staying and fighting until the darkness is defeated is appealing, but they look to the past and future for answers, instead of thinking about here and now, where the most threats are. New monarchy is violent and fascist: they want an absolute monarch over the city. In fact, if I could, I would either support the iron lords or the reef. A combination of the views and ideas of new monarchy, FWC, and Dead orbit would make for the best faction.
-
I went with FWC because it lines up with my beliefs in the real world. Christian , Conservative and Warrior.
-
It means to me is getting the damn exotic class items
-
I have no love for new monarchy, I can see and understand dead orbit's perspective but believe that FWC is right regardless. If we leave, the war is going to follow us but we could leave and hope that we stand a chance out in the unknown. That said I follow FWC because regardless if we leave or stay, we're faced with war. On a side Does anyone think of DO and then think of the movie Titan AE? On another side note, I'd like to see some faction quest in D2.
