Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things.
But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star.
so what does your Faction mean to you? (answers may be read on the corresponding Faction episode of my podcast the Destiny Lore Cast, go check out our episode with Baxter from https://www.ishtar-collective.net linked above!)

I have no love for new monarchy, I can see and understand dead orbit's perspective but believe that FWC is right regardless. If we leave, the war is going to follow us but we could leave and hope that we stand a chance out in the unknown. That said I follow FWC because regardless if we leave or stay, we're faced with war. On a side Does anyone think of DO and then think of the movie Titan AE? On another side note, I'd like to see some faction quest in D2.
-
For the longest time after launch (like a few weeks till I couldn't take not getting black gear, shaders, etc) I held out from declaring allegiance to any faction. Thought I couldn't philosophically align 100% with just any one of them lol. Also was dumb and reticent about some of the exotic gear from Xûr cause I was afraid there might be real in-game implications down the road for succumbing to gear that could be influenced by the darkness! Finally caved, bought and donned an Achlyophage Symbiote! WAAAYYY overthought too much!

I'm all for new monarchy. Their focus to create a united front seems the best available. Monarchies have their issues of course but I'll take that over running with my tail between my legs or believing that war is the only way. I dislike the objectives of both of the other options, and I find new monarchy to be the least disagreeable while also providing ideals I can get behind.
-
I'm New Monarchy because New Monarchy's the best. I was with them from the beginning. A good bit of time after that, they gave me (...the greatest sidearm in Destiny...) the Conviction II. Now I can't leave. xD
-
The way I see it FWC is the least flawed of them all. For New Monarchy it will be next to impossible to establish a monarchy and have the king or queen have an unimpeachable character. With Dead Orbit we don't know what is out there. There could be only darkness out there also the hive would hunt us down forever because we represent the light. People see FWC as warmongers when really it is common sense. War with the enemy is unavoidable, it has already started. So we should prepare for it.
-
The FWC will stop the Coming War when it begins, and won't deal with creating the dictatorship the New Monarchy desires or flee into humanity's annihilation like Dead Orbit. DO's fleet should be repurposed to the War Cult, doing otherwise would be a disservice to the City, and therefore humanity.

God Rolled Last-Ditch is what my faction means to me

Nothing infact the only reason I'm in it is because they give me items and it ranks up at the same time as my crucible/vanguard.
-
FWC is trying to save the city by defeating our enemies and preparing for future attacks.
-
I was with new monarchy for their socialist input on the way they wanted to rule and how their vision if work by unity would strengthen every one in the city to protect those who can't fight and those who would be left behind if we flee to unexplored planets. I went all the way to rank 52 with them. But I fear the executor is a bit extremist and I started to get the impression that if he got enough supporters and since Zavala turned down the offer if being the supreme leader, he might crown himself or chose a not so great leader as Zavala and might try to get to power via a revolution. I support revolutions when tyrany rules and justice for the working class is needed but right now a war among ourselves would be our demise. And if the speaker and the traveler turn out to be a tyrants, I trust the vanguard to do the right thing and turn against them uniting more of us than any of the factions would ever do and they could become a senate to rule justly and fairly. So I stand with the vanguard for what it is worth.

Standing for what you believe in and fight for your factions honor and glory
-
Ha ha Red and white for my warlock. Black and white and more black for my titan. My hunter doesn't matter cause I don't play her.
-
Red shaders
-
A chance at getting a god roll wormwood. Thats it.
-
There's little to no player to npc interaction in this game. How can anyone even be tied to a faction for things other than shaders and gear ?
-
Nothing
-
It means getting weapons that sometimes have good rolls.

Edited by anthrax99: 1/10/2017 10:25:10 PMfree loot. first i ran through dead orbit because i like the colors and got all the shaders, ships, and sparrow. then i went through FWC for the guns. now back to dead orbit for the chroma armor i prefer over FWC. doesnt really matter beyond that but its actually difficult for me to choose between the philosophy of the two, i kinda agree with both approaches.
-
Don't really care, it's just a game. I'm affiliated with all factions. I just want the stuff I earn, most of which are dismantled for the legendary marks. About the only thing I can't stand is the FWC shaders. It's almost like a rainbow.
-
I joined the Future War Cult because I do not just walk away from the fight. We want to take back what is our right to our home world. This is not the Fallen's, Hive's, Vex', or the Empire's system. It was stolen, and we want it back. There is no alternative. The Hive would chase us to prove their existence. We would run into the Cabal Empire on their way to Imperial dominance. The Vex would seize the universe and the Fallen would have the Traveler. We've fought for so much, we will not give up. War is the only constant, Guardians. The philosophy of the FWC will win the war.
-
My faction has the best (in my opinion) spawn effect for the exotic marks.... oh wait, they still aren't fixed and don't have an effect.
-
I just put all my characters on a different faction
-
Nothing, In game doesn't really tell you anything about them and I'm not going to go searching for grimoire cards to find out. So I just join a faction for gear, weapons, shaders and the exotic class items, nothing else about the factions really matter. I have run through Dead Orbit and New Monarchy and am currently working my way through FWC. I don't really play much anymore though, so I might never get the exotic class item from FWC.
-
I have a character in each. The faction itself means nothing to me. Maybe if Bungie had actually taken the time to flesh them out and give them some actual meaning in the game, then maybe I would feel a bit different.
