What does your Faction mean to you?

Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things. But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star. so what does your Faction mean to you? (answers may be read on the corresponding Faction episode of my podcast the Destiny Lore Cast, go check out our episode with Baxter from https://www.ishtar-collective.net linked above!)

  • I find my relation to each faction to be one of "a means to an end". I hate the factions, but I also don't completely agree with any of them. The war cults mentality of we are always at war makes them prepared, but at the same time it leaves them no other avenues for other forms of thought. Tunnel vision leaves one unprepared. New Monarchy's vision of an absolute ruler has been proven multiple times in history to be flawed. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Dead Orbit, for all intents and purposes is probably the most likely faction I would chose if I had too, even they are not without flaw. Cutting and running isn't a bad idea, but it's not an easy one either. Where would we run too? There are so few planets that naturally support life, and even in that small percentage we probably wouldn't even find a planet that meets some, let alone all, our needs. It would be more probable to build our own planet to support our needs than find one that could support a fraction of them. And in order to build a planet that supports our needs, we need to collect resources from the one place available, that takes time, and that's not even including how we would even move all the materials.
