I am not one for preordering games. I usually dont get games anymore until they are cheaper too. Now i dont buy games anymore to save for more financially responsible things.
Anyways i got gamestop giftcards for christmas. ($75) and i pretty much have to get something. I have no game to look forward to but ME:A seems like the only game that has my slight attention. I wont be pulled again until halo 6... which has atleast a yr or two before anything is said.
Why i am hesitant:
I keep getting a STRONG destiny vibe from it. The more i look into the game the stronger it gets. Open world rpg type shooters with mp(like destiny and division) i tend not to trust. I just dont feel gaming is ready for that type and has tons of content(atleast on release)
More microtrans... i can live with... but a video cited gameinformer stating that those that are not fortunate enough with rng can buy certain weapons in weekly rotations (you know... like XUR). Doesnt sound that bad really although it still makes me think destiny.
No season pass... GREAT!.... but current games that rely on microtrans for dlc seems to be very slow on rolling out new content (titanfall 2/gow4)
Look. Mass effect 3 is my favorite multiplayer game to date. If i got this it would definitely be for the mp. The main problem is, as i watch the gameplay.. all i can think of is destiny on the frostbite engine. (Not a fan of new frostbite and bright color palette. )
Tldr
Its the only game i have any interest in but i want to be happy on my purchase and not buy another flop. EA take on destiny.
Hopefully someone can have information that will finalize my decision

Edited by High Charity: 1/17/2017 1:42:24 AMMultiplayer isn't even required to beat the story, it's still entirely possible to do so without. - And much easier to do so than it was in ME3 Open world RPGs have existed before Destiny was even in concept. The new mako looks like it'll actually work. We can jump now. You're not restricted to one class (Infiltrator, Soldier, Adept, etc). Still though, don't preorder. Pre-orders are cancerous and all the bonuses you can still get weeks after the release.

Stop right there! It is nothing like destiny The micro transactions were actually done good in the last mass effect and the multiplayer is nothin like crucible and there are no loot drops!

Reign of Spartain asked me to post the following - "I can no longer reply to anyones posts. I was "warned" because fall4 reported me (really) and i can no longer comment on my own post. Thanks. Just tell them im getting it faith of bioware"

Preordered it - no question, no hesitation. ME campaign way different and has more depth/substance than Destiny which has brilliant graphics and fluid realistic movement but crappy lightweight campaign stories.

Why does anyoen need to sell you on anything, just play the other three games (which you have obviously already played one) and decide whether you like the series. If it is a series you completely and wholly enjoy then get it, but if you only like the multiplayer then you may want to wait. The camaping of mass effect games has always seemed to be a far bigger part of the game than the multiplayer (typical with RPGs). But the choice is yours, to me the best way to decide on a sequel of a game would be to play the previous games.

Sell yourself! Geez!..

Destiny and Division were mmo based multiplayer. Pretty sure Andromeda is single-player rpg focused with multiplayer on the side. Probably like ME3 or in DA:I
JUST DO IT!
I don't work for GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. and am therefore unable to sell you such a thing. Also, it isn't out yet.
-
I'm not sure how you can be getting Destiny vibes from ME, they aren't even close to similar. IMO Destiny is just a shooter with some RPG mechanics, and pretty shitty ones at that. But if you're on the fence man I'd just wait for reviews, I'm 100% sold on this game and I'm going to wait and see if some reviews drop early before pre ordering it.

Edited by Bake8935: 1/17/2017 4:16:58 PMI have no idea where you're getting the Destiny comparison. The gameplay looks like your standard Mass Effect action to me. The mp should be just what you're expecting if you played ME3.
-
If u buy mass effect just for the MP, get out
-
The mass effect series has long proven that they're above the typical E A shittiness
exception, see online passes
so I guess by that I mean "usually" and "so far". They have also proven to be respondent to fan criticism after release and have worked to supply players with great quality story dlc. If you want to pre order it so you don't have to go out the day of and so you can go in fresh, I'd do it.

Wait for reviews bro. I don't think they can mess mass effect up, but I've been wrong before. I'm finishing up my third play through of the trilogy right now and am so hyped

I don't get these sell me on game post. Do your own research on the game or at least rent the game and make up your own mind. Don't rely on the opinions of others
