Crota and Oryx

First off, I'm new here. Could Crota have had the potential to be as powerful as Oryx? In one of the trailers for the Dark Below expansion, we see Crota holding a sword very similar to Oryx's Willbreaker as well as Crota channeling energy down his sword into the ground. Oryx does a very similar thing in the opening cinematic. Except Oryx uses his sword to activate the Dreadnaught's super weapon. Let's point out a few differences first: Crota's energy is green, Oryx's is blue+black Crota's has not been visibly weaponized, Oryx's has Since Crota is the spawn of Oryx, he's obviously not as powerful. But could he have become as powerful as Oryx with the proper training and guidance? Because if they can both put Hive energy into their swords than I think if we left Crota alone he could've become as strong as oryx. The one thing that debunks this is the Sword Logic. Crota would have to kill more, thus going to earth to fight us. But maybe that's the reason? He wanted to kill us so he could get more light so he could become as strong as his father and weaponize his darkness abilities more. Just a thought.

  • Technically anyone can get as powerful as Oryx, its just very difficult to. Crota has a bit of a leg up in this regard as heir to the Osmium Throne plus a few million years of genocide to boost his Sword Logic. Crota at the time of his death was nowhere near Oryx levels of power though.

  • No matter how powerful they get I have noticed one vital flaw. They aren't bullet proof.

    • Technically, yes. But Sword Logic, as you mention, destroys this. Regular Hive energy can either be green or orange. Oryx's blue-black energy is reflective of the Taken, which are beings possessed by the Darkness itself, with Oryx at the helm. Oryx was the only being to have this power besides the Deep itself. Crota would have had to have damaged his father in some way in order to get the powers, as the Guardians that killed Oryx's power had that Taken energy bounced off and into the second closest thing... Malok.
