It's funny how OP puts out a legitimate complaint which is justified, and then the die-hard Gothalion fans roll out from under Twitch's armpits and proceed to insult him.

  • That's fanboy 101. I expected more people pulling out their fanboy panties honestly.

  • Yeah. No one can deny that the way Goth handled his viewers when responding to the "NO COUNTDOWN???" was horrendous. Sure, Goth is known to be honest about games, but he's never insulted his viewers and subscribers. Maybe as part of a joke, sure, but not flat out insult them like he did last night.

  • Ego gets inflated easily. These guys got big because of Destiny and have since let that ego grow worse, he was a decent guy at first but yeah. Personally I skipped the stream, same as always. Bungie bounties are cool but I don't have the patience to gamble with RNG for a match, and I have other obligations and games to attend to. Still, it's arguably one of bungies only community events, you'd think that anyone involved in hosting it would at least show respect and handle it professionally, not like a giant child.

  • Agreed. I only checked the stream after seeing this post. I skipped most of it and only watched the parts where he was in matchmaking and loading into a game.

  • I dislike the shit out of Gothalion (personally I think he's just as big of a child as the entitled children that complained) but his reasoning for doing what he did was valid.

  • I don't dislike him, nor do I feel like the OP is right, however I have to say that the OP is justified. The whole point of the bounty is for the watchers of the stream to get in on the action, and for them to be able to get the bounty reward if both they and Goth end up in the same game. The fact that he didn't do the countdown just shows that he didn't even care about the bounty. When asked about the countdown at first, he said "I'm not doing a f-ing countdown, no, I'm not *insert streamer name here*. You're gonna have to get lucky." The absence of the countdown completely negates the point of the bounty, as it's essentially Goth just playing Destiny normally, with a reward if you happen to match with him, which would be impossible as he set his stream to have a 26 second delay. While it was Goth's stream, and he was entitled to run the bounty however he wanted, the way he handled his viewers complaining wasn't how a professional should act, they are, after all, the people who pays his bills.

  • The point of the bounty isn't just for those who watch, and I feel that's a common misconception. It is, after all, a community event... and the community is much more than what you see here, on Reddit, and on the Twitch. I see where OP is coming from, where it can be annoying how he broke precedence but at the end or the day, it's an informal rule... so (being blunt here) he needs to simply get over it. He couldn't match them, which is unfortunate, but there is always next time when the event is ran. I was there from *generally* the start of the bounty, and he wasn't insulting or taking jabs at people until around the time the PS4 guys started giving him some serious shit for not doing the countdown even after reasonably explaining he was going to be doing so. In his explanation, he said it would speed up the process (meaning more emblem opportunity, if only by one or two games overall) and would be equally fair to people across the board, for both people in stream and not - both of which I feel are reasonable explanations as to not do a countdown.

  • justified.. because thousands of people didn't get the childhood countdown 3...2...1... go? really. i don't follow any streamer and figure if Goth didn't want to do that he shouldn't have to.. makes it random for everyone..

  • Because you don't follow any streamer, I'm going to assume you don't know twitch, and with that information, I know you won't understand any of what I or the OP said.

But it's not a legitimate complaint. FLAT OUT REFUSED. THE EVENT IS RUINED, WAAAAH
Gothalion broke tradition and flat out refused to do so not only did he refuse, he called his fans "crybabies"
Spoiler alert: they're crybabies I don't even like his content or streams in general, I prefer YT. The levels people will stoop to on here to perpetually rag on streamers and find things to be enraged about amazes me.

  • It is a legitimate complaint, though. Goth didn't do the countdown, which is how players would be able to successfully match up with him, so the event is ruined. The bounty is there not for the streamers, but the viewers. The streamer gets the emblem either way.

  • True, but without it the whole event is ruined, especially if you're stream is set on a 26 second delay like Goth's was.
