i get that he wants to do it his way, and not do a countdown
but he's trashing EVERYONE, he's been defending his lack of a countdown for 20 minutes straight, and now his entire chat is toxic
And how does not having a countdown matter? This avoids the potential of stream sniping - and allows any and all people a generally fair chance at matching up against him. Doing a countdown gives people who are in chat the clear advantage. His entire chat is toxic on their own selfish whim, not because he told them to be toxic.
he's the only streamer the entire event that hasn't done a countdown, and he KNOWS he is pissing everyone off, defending his actions, and making everything awful
Good on him for that. He conducted the bounty the way he wanted to. Bungie didn't say he needed to, that was a courtesy given by the other streamers in the past, which again have the chat and stream snipers a large advantage.
it's not the worst that he's not doing a countdown, but he's treating everyone like trash, if a bungie employee was watching his stream right now, they would cut sponsorship, it's just awful, look for yourself
you don't have to take my word for it
He didn't start treating people like trash until he specifically asked people to not ask for a count down, repeatedly mind you, and those fools couldn't accept they wouldn't have an edge at matching him. The absolute obsession for this stupid emblem is ridiculous. It doesn't even truly prove anything. It's just a fun, community thing which the community turned toxic.
* * * EDIT * * *
for those wondering what the countdown is, when bungie bounties stream, there is a delay
if you try to team up with him (or against him) by watching his stream exclusively, it will never happen; because if you team up when you see him team up, in real life he's already fighting a match
so they do a "countdown" via TEXT in the stream so everyone knows when to team up with the bungie bounty, today, Gothalion broke tradition and flat out refused to do so
This makes it fair to everybody - again - not just those who are attempting to match up against him via his stream. What you're complaining about is not having an edge over everybody else in the community simply because you were watching his stream.
not only did he refuse, he called his fans "crybabies" "meanies" "bullies" "trolls" while also telling them to "get over it" "have fun" "shut up" "do something else"
So he called them exactly what they were? Boo hoo. I'm not even a fan of this jackass and I agree with the way he handled the situation. It's a community event in which you have the potential of being involved in. Bungie doesn't have to do these types of things. It should be fun that you and others (myself included) have even gotten the chance to compete for the emblem against known players of the community. And yes, the community bitches because they didn't get their way. It's pathetic.
this guy is getting publicly sponsored and free advertisement on the official bungie site with the official bungie brand, this event wasn't done out of the good will of his heart on his own time, it was a business contract
This may very well be true. But again and he even stated "Bungie came to me and asked me to do this. I was not told how to do it, so I can run it the way I feel." He ran it the way he felt he should, and didn't let a bunch of entitled children come in and dictate it.
i don't care either way, i want the emblem, i'm maxed grimoire, and don't care who i earn it from, but today was a travesty, *Gothalion's actions cannot go unnoticed, it was a complete dud to participate today, he bitched on stream for over an hour, and continued to do so even after the event was over
You do care, or you would not have made this post. You care because you didn't have a clear edge over many other people to match up against him. The odd weren't stacked in your favor to get the emblem and it's burning you up on the inside. To that end, I suggest you relax and enjoy the game, don't take it so seriously, and to get over yourself. Yesterday was only a "travesty" because you made it to be one, instead of enjoying the community event. This says a lot about an individual. And I'm sure he bitched about it, because quite frankly, it's a disgrace that the community went up in arms once he said he would not be doing a countdown and continued to moan and complain because they didn't get their way (your post is one fine example too).
