Addressing the BladeDancer situation.

Hungering Blade. A Perk that regenerates your shield when killing an enemy with a melee. You know who also does that? Sunbreakers. And they also regenerate from the grenade. There was literally no reason to touch BladeDancer. The only reason I can see was the devs just hated Arc Blade. Yes i'm a salty hunter, but they did this last time. They nerfed BladeDancer last Crucible patch with little to NO reason why. It nearly killed the subclass, and it certainty killed Blink (can't wait to read about that...) I doubt they even know the PROBLEMS with BladeDancer. I'll just list them shall I?: • The Super stalls after a jump or blink (Ending up in a good 2 second delay leading to your death). • BackStab is inconsistent STILL. • QuickDraw is pointless now it's on an Exotic (which has more benefits). • The Super itself runs out quicker than a StormCaller (because of the ridiculous nerf to the energy after a swing). • Shortstopping is still a thing (And it's STUPID). • Arc Blades are EASILY avoided by a Titan (which is the most popular thing in the Crucible right now). • The armor during the Super is abysmal (You can be defeated by any regular shotgun net thanks to the Super Stall). • NOW Hungering Blade doesn't regent your shield properly (Sunbreakers can but who cares am i right). And that's just off my head. This subclass clearly needed a nerf right? Ultimately, Bungie needs to explain this very abrupt change in more detail. They labeled this change as the "bad news", but It could be a good change if it were to do its job to its fullest. If it healed you immediately (instead of regenerating), I could welcome that change. If it is just a worse regen, then Bungie, I have no words. I know a lot of you will point at skips, but all they need is a timer like axion bolts. After 5, they explode and disappear. Done. Dealt with. Please, that's all BladeDancers have at this point. Why use a Blade when you can just regen with a better more useful hammer? I'd like answers Bungie. We'd all like them. TL;DR: If Bungie don't give us answers on Hungering Blade, i'm gonna really dislike their dev team. Edit: To be absolutely fair here, the main reason i'm mad at this change is not the change itself. The delivery of this tweak was very poor and had no valid reason. But if it is exactly how he describes it (heals a chunk of health), that is viable. Very viable for multiple engagements actually. The problem here is that he did it because he was "frustrated by it. That's completely insane and not a good reason to change a very solid and inoffensive perk (especially after the display of skill we saw in that terrible Crucible match... ugh...)

    Between all the roaming supers (storm, hammers, golden gun, and blade) blade is the hardest to shut down, in my opinion. With the upcoming special ammo nerf, Bungie looked ahead to prevent bladedancers from becoming too OP. Since we will have to rely mostly on our primaries to shut down roaming supers.

    • Your wish just came true. Bungie nerfed Stormcallers and Bladedancers, as planned... AND Sunbreakers. And Strikers. AND Voidwalkers. AND several exotic primaries in the process. Sunsingers were already trashed. So Defenders, Nightstalkers, and Gunslingers... better watch your back.

    • I'm just annoyed because they continually balance everything based on crucible and just destroy it for PvE. It's such a small portion of the game, and yet the entire game is balanced around it. They just end up alienating a huge portion of their player base because they are unable to understand how to properly balance a game like this.

      • I think your main issue is just focusing on the change made to Hungering Blade while not taking the other patch changes into account. Critical damage on shotguns was removed and with the change to special ammo you will find yourself facing a super with your primary. Yes, team shooting does occur but that stopped regen anyways at least now you will get some health back.

          Are the people who are bringing up the special ammo change as an excuse serious? The spawn time on crates is now a minute. A MINUTE! People were - with the longer spawn time - already pranzing from crate to crate and never running out of ammo. Even if you respawn with no special ammo - and God forbid that you dimwits would have to use a primary for a maximum of 60 seconds - there's going to be a crate ready by the time you get there. They've made the situation WORSE and you try to excuse a totally uncalled for nerf with it. The only reason BD is even used right now is because of Shinobu's and that reason is most likely going to be gone on Tue too. Then again, Bungie's changes never make any sense so perhaps they've added a third nade to shinobu's. That would atleast make up for the hungering blade nerf and be in line with their other mindboggling changes. Also - and before someone throws it out there, I've not brought a BD into the Crucible for a good two years so I have no personal gain from what I posted above. I just find their tweaks to be objectively stupid.

          • And as usual they killed PVE... Bladedancer was the hunter subclass to solo Crota on hard because of health regen and this is gone now. Thank you Bungie.

                          I'm satisfied with the Nerf to Hungering blade . Getting your shields back so easily just to move continually between players with all the targeting in the world is a problem. I applaud Bungie for this.

                                    • The nerf sucks because it changes to where you have to kill someone either with super or melee to get 1/5th of health back. Voidwalkers get full health back on melee hit, and Sunbreakers has Cauterize (I dont use the subclass so idk how it procs)

                                        • I know this isn't a popular opinion but I agree Hungering blade was OP but here's what I would have done differently. I would have nerfed the Hungering blade perk but buffed the overall armor while in super. Not sure if that is even possible but if it is, to me that would have been a perfect balance. Meaning you're harder to kill overall but the perk can't used to spam health to keep you from dying every single kill you get. You need to offset things. I would have nerfed range on the thunderstrike melee but buffed the storm grenades to have zero delay. Where you throw it and that's where the immediate damage happens. Guardians mobility is just too fast for this grenade to be consistent for everyone. And After removing the storm grenade delay, if the damage seemed too OP then I would have tweaked it's damage slightly to be more in line with other effective grenades on other classes. Essentially leveling the playing field. I'm not going to address the stormcaller's super because this post is already long, but I definitely would have tweaked that as well. Just my thoughts. Don't freak out.

Well, they used the same reasoning. Do I agree with it? Hell no!! #BuffNotNerf Only this time, I don't remember reading alot of traffic re: hungering blade. That decision came from outta nowhere IMO. Don't think anyone was expecting that. Ah well. Here's hoping they haven't hit your class too hard like they hit Titans awhile back. Certainly didn't hit you as hard as they did Sunsingers so at least there's that. #Hope

Night stalker became the rage for a while until we all realized we were wrong and blade was still best. You don't even know how it will actually work in game.
