With the release of Rise of Iron, the first map for Trials was Last Exit. I went flawless three times in like 5 hours and was able to get the Vigilant Disciple fairly easily. It was quite fun and I'm sure I was not alone in that thought process. There were a number of different weapons being used and various tactics. Everyone was leveling and it was a good time.
826,734 accounts participated in Trials that weekend, and 139,066 went flawless! That's a LOT.
57% of total kills that weekend were with shotguns, and snipers were 36%.
Matador 64 was 7.86%
Fast forward to this weekend. Everyone has hit light level long ago. Lots of people aren't playing the game because there's nothing new to do, or earn. There's an established 'meta' which nearly everyone runs. IMO Trials is pretty challenging right now. I'm a shotgunner. And I'm not complaining about them. Just stats.
247,120 accounts have participated in Trials this weekend, and 36,430 have gone flawless. The lowest it has been since ROI release (I realize the weekend isn't over yet but let's be real)
62% of total kills this weekend were with shotguns. 25% are Matador 64.
---
Ok, 57% and 62% aren't that much different. Shotguns aren't the problem. What's different are the number of people NOT playing the game. Of course it's an obvious stat and everyone on here already knows... But I felt like writing it down so there it is.
All Bungie has to do is give the player an incentive to play trials and everyone's life would be a lot easier. But the majority have what's out there and the rng from those bounties is so bad that the rest either get carried, pay for an account run, or don't even bother.
-
Here's something to think about: A team of 1.0 kd players who face 9 other teams of 1.0 kd players would have to sweat just as hard as a team of 2.0 v 2.0 for 9 matches.
-
Interesting stats and I can tell you that from an avg or slightly below avg player, trials hasn't interested me in months and months.. There is no incentive for me to become bullet fodder for the elite stacked teams or the carriers.. The bounties give me last years gear so why would I bother to get it when its not current. Bungie has done nothing to lure me to trials and has come out ant flat out said it isn't for everyone.. so if they want to tell me it wasn't made for me, why would I go play it. The elites push down our throats we need to get gud and that any suggestion to make changes that would encourage more of us to play are always shot down as we get told the game mode is for the best only. Tiers have been suggested, so have several alterations that would allow competition between skill levels to be fair and equitable, this of course would bring players in to play but, would likely take away streamers ability to make money.. which brings us to Skorri.. something that several have used successfully in strategies to beat other teams.. and its the less skilled apparently that are using it.. and teams are upset about this.. and re complaining to bungie to fix the problem.. funny.. before it was the skrubs told to get gud.. improve and that trials is for the best of the best.. If you are one of the best, you adapt to the change, you find a way to over come.. isn't that what has been preached to the lesser players for a couple years.. yet now.. when it is impacting elites earning potential, the old rules don't apply.. they want things to remain tilted in there favor.. Would I like to goto the lighthouse again.. get the new gear etc.. sure I would.. but, there is no incentive for me to bash my head against a wall with the way the system has been created.. I want to have fun and with the rules as they are, I get very little if anything out of becoming a bullet sponge.

The population for trials has fallen and continues to fall, there is no denying this. Making The Lighthouse inaccessible for average players has lead to many of those players dropping out of Trials of Osiris.
-
The main reason people aint playing no more is bc theres nothing to do! I finished everything in pve pretty much so its just pvp and all that is, is a bunch of unbalanced shit! No one goes flawless in trials bc its too damn hard and in some cases bull! Bc youll always face that one team early in your card making mercy useless. And if you dont win your first match then bye 9 passage coins. And plus pve keeps getting screwed up with BECAUSE of trials. Destiny gotta fix their shit like dam
-
Good info. Now if we could just tell bungie to stop f'ing with balance in the name of Trials while screwing over pve? Well we'd be shittin' in tall cotton son!
-
Trials participation should spike this weekend. The downside? All loadouts will consist of NLB + sidearm.

Edited by NonOffensiveID1: 2/15/2017 9:46:46 PMI bought this game cuz it was supposed to be RPG like. I have played a lot and still play when I'm bored. I play PvP when I feel like it, don't get too upset, except for the inconsistency that I see like my fist of havoc not killing three people directly in front of me, while I can get killed by it when I'm not even in the vicinity, around 2 walls, or very high in the air, etc. I think trials should be tiered. They have their combat rating, use that. Defeat people in your tier at the 9-0 game. Go enough times, move up a tier. Make the tiers easily explained, so players know where they are. I would play trials if I knew I had a chance at winning, or even getting 7 wins. I'm 40 years old, and I can't get good. I've gotten better at PvP, I'm trying to get to a 1.0 overall k/d, but I just don't have that reaction time anymore. If I thought I had a chance, I would play trials, but I don't. It seems like they have made PvE more accessible (easier) as the game has gone on, but they have ignored PvP, as far as end game content goes, in my opinion. Raids are pretty easy if you can just get up the confidence to find a team. Rarely do you see anyone offering to help people with Trials, usually follow me, watch me, raffle, pay, whatever. I did find one 1% PvP player who offered to help me, and he was true to his word. He helped my son and a friend of mine go flawless, but those as so far and few.

Yes im a little salty but here is the truth as it is for me. I used to play a good bit of trials and always failed. I started playing a month or so before TTK and started trials about halfway into year 2. Most weekends i could make it to 5 sometimes on a rare occasion even 7 but i never went flawless on my own accord. Now here is the truth for me. I simply cannot play trials knowing i will lose. So many things are there that i want badly but i cannot do it knowing i will fail. I believe i am similar to most. And thats just my perspective.

Trials needs better match making. Either go to the 12 wins, loss takes away a win or just 12 wins period. There is an elo system everyone checks. bungie should try and make it so people at 900-1200 elo play against each other 99% of the time. 1250-1500 play against each other, 1550-1800 and 1850-2800. This way, sense the try hards and streamers always talk shit and think they are good. Let them face each other all the time.. Let them figure out who the top no lifer is. If you get 12 wins, you go to the lighthouse and reap the awards. If you get 12 wins flawless (zero loses) there is a portal in the light house that takes you to a secret room with another chest that has special emblem, color shader and 2 or 3 medallions for their armor. This way, when someone pays $50 for a carry, its actually special and much harder on the streamer thats carrying. Or, bungie should just open up trials so its 7 days a week. These -blam!-in no lifers can't play it all day everyday...
-
Why go in there and week after week get stomped, elo and kd farmed? People usually do not react to abuse by crying for more. They simply leave like a battered house wive. I find it hilarious that the streamers and youtubers, the "I go flawless 20 times each weekend" and "git gud" crowd now complain that their precious game is dying and all that is left is their little incestuous circle jerk each weekend. Because they are the ones who are digging the grave.
-
All the casuals and non-gud players need to refuse to play it. Let the elitist scumbag snowflakes just play each other. Imo trials needs an overhaul to entice normal players in. It should be fun for all and content should not be locked out to great players. Don't get me started on the streamer scum.
-
It doesn't bother you that the first weekend 93% of the kills were from just two special weapon archetypes?
-
You said it yourself. Most people have earned everything. You really expect numbers to stay consistently spiked 4 months into a small dlc?

Edited by Dekirk: 2/15/2017 6:28:18 AMThe gear in trials is not worth it. Maybe the sniper but the hand cannon stinks in my book, the pulse isn't bad, but year 1 and 2 I actually wanted to play just to get the gear for regular crucible, now I don't care. Same goes for iron banner, excluding the heavy machine gun and the sniper from Arcons forge. The gear has just gone down the drain. They look funny. The sites are cheesy etc.

The matchmaking is stupid for trials. I am a decent player when it comes to trials, usually if I really want to I could go flawless each weekend. I'm not here to brag just giving a perspective. I usually have to give it at least 2 cards if not more. The problem is the skill that you get matched against. I hate playing the first 4-5 games because it's a shut out 5-0 5-0 5-0 and maybe 4-1. The teams I face are just bad and I feel bad and get no enjoyment or learning experience from facing them. Most the time I send a message apologizing and telling them it's not fair they matched us and if they want pointers or to run a card let me know. Most are grateful and wish me luck. Some curse my name and wish me hell. Then the flip side happens where I'm facing Top 1% players for all categories in trials. With 90% win ratio. We don't always get blown out and maybe win one these games. But at the same time I don't learn as much from these games. I learn best from games where teams are closely matched and you have to play flawless to win it hope they mess up. Those are the games you learn from and I have the most fun with. All I want from Bungie is to make Leagues or Tiers of Trials. The end rewards are the same but the higher tiers get different cosmetic looks on their weapons and armor. That's all I want Bungie and I'll return to trials.

I stopped playing destiny completely honestly started playing over watch and Cod since i got bored of trials. I went flawless every week 3x and helped others go flawless but there isn't anything good for going flawless all the weapon rolls are the same. Well basically there's nothing really to do in the game in pve either since it's so easy to get 400 light. I never played year 1 I started playing mid way in year 2 and I thought this game was awesome especially trying to get 320 light so I bet year 1 was more of grind. I would of like to play this game earlier to have enjoyed it more but Let's see if destiny 2 will be any good
-
Well I mean I'm still 380 at my best
-
But... y...y...you've been flawless twice
-
Trials is getting harder and harder every week for me but I do play it every weekend and go flawless its just the player base is getting smaller and smaller that would leave you with ppl who are more experianced than you and are from different countries for example am playing from italy instead of getting euro players I get ppl from the US or canada...I dont have anything against streamers some do carries for free others charge, it really never affects me when am playing against them.well I said my piece
-
Trials is cancer. That's the only issue. Don't play it and you will be fine. Lol.
-
I've never gone flawless 😕 ..... But I'll keep trying
-
Put the current trials gear in the gold tier bounties instead of only allowing them to be earned at 5 and 7 wins that will bring more casuals into trials.
-
Edited by panzerfaust: 2/14/2017 2:20:51 PMWhat's the surprise? That's 'competitive', not for the average player... isn't what everyone advocates? Now the average joe doesn't play trials because they don't give a -blam!- about your self inflated egos and you find it strange? You reap what you sow! The conclusion is obvious most people playing destiny are not self appointed elites. PS: And bungie can't fix your self inflated egos... They could fix the red bars by issuing another massive ban wave, which I assume it's coming after the patch.
-
I'm not so sure everyone's life would be a lot easier. Yours probably would. Those of us who don't play trials now? Probably not so much. Personally, it's going to take a lot more bait than a little new loot to get me into that cesspool so I can make it easier for you to go flawless.
-
True. If casual players wouldn't get stomped every game they would play more if they faced people close to there skill level. I'm around 1 kd in trials and it's fun as heck to play against similar KD's. When I face 1.5 or higher it sucks.

This weekend was exceptionally hard for my trials squad , i don't know if it was the map or what , but it seemed like i was running from grenades the whole time .
