So, in the patch notes, it states that the Hungering Blade nerf affected somehow a bunch of other things, but their not going to fix it. Thankfully, only 2 of those things were relevant to us Defenders. No Backup Plans and the Ward of Dawn cast. Let me cast some light on this situation:
1. No Backup Plans
It still activates Force Barrier, just not the health regen that used to come automatically after it. I messed around with this in PvE and PvP, it can be irritating. Fix this.
2. Ward of Dawn cast:
When you activate ward of dawn, it used to start immediate health and shield regeneration. But now it doesn't. SUPER IRRITATING in Mayhem (which is this week yay) and can be in PvE situations, but it's not horrible. Fix this.
Bungie asked what we thought about the "unintended changes that they don't feel like fixing", and this is what I think:
The defender changes aren't game-breaking but they nag at me just enough to want them fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for trying to make a good weapons patch.

So call me crazy, but I dare say this is a buff to Defender? I have not tested or seen anything since this patch, but to my knowledge I don't recall the ward of dawn nor backup plans having an inherent health regen. I thought it just gave an overshield considering the times I would get an overshield from either of these two methods (at low health) then get mapadored from space. So unless something is screwy with the overshield, I think we get bonus HP instantly after overshield is applied.
