Atriox is a Brute who was sent on suicide missions by the Covenant along with his clan. Every mission his clan was sent on, he returned as the sole survivor. Because of this, his hatred of the Covenant grew so powerful, they sought to Banish him. Upon his banishing, other rallied to his cause, and he created an army powerful enough to oppose the Covenant. They became known as the Banished.
