2.5.0.2 brought with it 'revolutionary' changes to the Crucible. Primaries have surfaced in the Crucible in an unprecedented manner. It's fantastic being more competitive with my Auto Rifles.
The change to the Special Ammo economy was two steps in the right direction and one step back, in the wrong direction.
There are pros and cons. The pros including a high usage of primary weapons. The cons include the overuse of Sidearms and negative impact on weapons such as the Fusion Rifle, Sniper and Shotgun (which have been severely impacted by the 2.5.0.2 update).
The idea I am proposing could work and provide a way for other Special Weapons (not Sidearms) to become more viable in terms of ammo economy and benefit overall usage.
The Proposed Idea
You spawn with Special Ammo as normal. Upon death you lose your reserve ammo and respawn with the amount of ammo left in your magazine. Special Ammo crates will spawn at the previous time of 9 seconds after pick up.
(I will use a Thesan FR4 as an example. NB: My Thesan FR4 has Braced Frame).
This is how it'll work:
• You spawn with ammo like always. Four shots in the magazine, two in reserve.
• Upon death I lose my reserve ammo but retain the ammo in my magazine.
• I am left with four fusion shots. Say for example I use two, leaving two in magazine. Then I am killed in Crucible.
• When I respawn, I retain the two shots left.
• I then might pick up more special ammo giving me four in the magazine, four in reserve.
• Upon death I lose my reserve but retain the four in my magazine.
Let me know what you think about my idea that I am proposing. Would it work? Why? Why not?
Cheers.

That doesn't sound that bad. After trying the post patch PvP I definitely miss using my fusions more than I can now

I personally hate the changes to both special ammo and shotguns. I shot a guy point blank with it today and he didn't die then turns around and killed me instead. I like the way special ammo. It has its pros and cons tho but yeah your idea would work. That'll give everybody a chance to use there special but Sidearms cans stay where they're at because I like using my sidearm. It actually helps because you don't really get that much ammo for it. I'll spawn with 12 in the clip and 8 in my reserves. I only use it to finish someone off or if I get into a heated battle. It's even good for infiltrating enemy lines when there is a fire fight. You can just walk in and pick ppl off until someone notices. It's actually funny asf.

Or... reset the patch, then buff primaries, not by 2.5%, but 12-15%.

Good idea

the best option would be to lose your ammo for side arms and the side arms would act like normal, you would still spawn with ammo for your side arm but the bear minimum that it would usually spawn you in with if you had no ammo upon death.

Good idea.

Not a bad idea.

Or we could just keep our AMMO revert the health Regen nerf, max armor nerf. And then shit will be gravy
-
What primaries? I don't see any primaries in PvP. Crucible is now Side Arm Challenge. Pay attention.
-
I'd rather spawn with two full mags and remove special ammo crates all together. Once your out your out. This promotes primary usage, but doesn't penalize you for dieing.

Bump, better than what we have.

Perfect as it currently stands

Seems decent enough. If that's still too much special, I propose the following. Starting special ammo: Sidearm/Lord of Wolves: 30 shots Fusion: 5 shots Shotgun: 4 shots Sniper: 4 shots Chest special ammo (chests spawn every 2 min): Sidearm/LOW: 30 shots Fusion: 3 shots Shotgun: 3 shots Sniper: 2 shots Max special ammo: Sidearm/LOW: 60 shots All others: 9 shots Amount of special ammo available is severely curtailed, making it problematic to use a special as a primary. But freshly killed and respawned Guardians are not at the same deadly disadvantage as they otherwise would face.

I like this. A role model. Propose an actual idea instead of insult game developers and anyone who disagrees

Best way to change it: players spawn in with zero special ammo (including sidearm). There are no special ammo boxes. Instead, special ammo is granted to a player upon defeating an enemy with a primary, a grenade, or a melee. Camping for special boxes is completely removed. Emphasis is placed on primary gunplay, as this is how you earn special. Special ammo now will be utilized as more of a situational ammo type as there is a limited quantity.

No. We good.

I'm all for it ;)

Such a better solution, killing two birds with one stone, preventing people from stacking special and solving the special problem. Bungo listen to this man

Nice Idea. Here's my idea. You start off with 2-4 special ammo, nothing in the reserve. You die. You lose it all. You get a kill with your primary, the enemy drops the little green ammo thing (like when you kills ADS in PvE) and boom, you have special. Promotes primary and special play

Great idea. Keep the mag, lose reserves.
