Snow was kneeling by the Cherry Blossom tree, weaponless, staring at a single name. The sun was shining, the sky was clear for once, and everything was still. She wore a simple white dress and slippers, her hands folded neatly in her lap. Her thumbs dragged across the pads on her palms gently and slowly, as if she was trying to comfort herself as she fought back tears. Her ears drooped as she kept staring at the name, thinking of how she let her friend down, how she wasn't there to save him. Kari's death meant more to her than others knew. To her it meant she failed something. Failed someone. Mari was in Sapphire's care now, so repaying what she thought she owed Karishad would be near impossible. She sniffled, her left hand eventually resting on her swollen stomach. She sighed shakily, curling her tail around herself as she shivered, despite it being warm outside.

"You okay snow?"says leyla the short bluish green scales covered woman was standing a few feet away from her. She knew that she was stressed anyone would in times like these.
-
Snow sighed quietly. "Not really.." she said after a sniffle.
-
"Hmm well thats not good you want to talk about it"says leyla
-
Artemis silently walks up to Snow from behind and hugs her gently. "Snow?"
-
She sniffles, closing her eyes as she gently leaned against Artemis. "...Yeah?.." she eventually said.
-
"I'm sorry for everything that has happened to you. You deserve better than this."
-
She sniffled again, reaching out as she dragged her finger tips across the name. "I failed him..."
-
"No, Snow. Sometimes bad things happen that you just can't control no matter what you do. Please, don't beat yourself up."
-
She sighs shakily, retracting her hand as she put it back in her lap. "I-I pr-promised him I-I'd keep h-his family s-safe.." she said, struggling not to burst into a sobbing fit. "...I promised i'd keep him safe..." she said after a few minutes, sniffling again.
-
"Snow, that was a very nice promise to make, but impossible to keep. You're a great person."
-
She sniffled again, wiping a tear. "Arty i'm having a child soon...This p-place isnt s-safe...I don't know what i'm supposed to do.."
-
"Then leave, Snow. You don't have to stay here and suffer."
-
"I d-don't know how to leave...I-i know i can leave but...Arty I have friends here, family...And unless i can take them with me, then I can't leave..."
-
"You can visit whenever you want, but think of the child. Should a child ever be raised here?"
-
"N-no...Artemis, this isn't easy for me..." she said, sniffling.
-
"Then let me help you." She hugs a little tighter.
-
Snow smiles a little, sniffling. "Thanks for being around...sometimes, heh.."
-
Arty weakly smiles back. "Y-Yeah, I'm sorry for not always being around."
-
"Its...fine..I guess." she said, side hugging her gently.
-
"Fine? Oh, Snow...I'm so sorry I'm a terrible friend...if I'm even a friend at this point."
-
"Arty, you're still my friend. I get it if you've been busy, but i miss seeing you around..I'm just happy to see you when I can." she said, smiling a little more.
-
Artemis sighs a little. "Thanks, Snow."
-
Snow smiles a little more, nuzzling her. "Anytime..."
-
Arty nuzzles back and wraps her fluffy tail around Snow. "Do you want to go eat together or something?"
-
"Uhm...everywhere is kind of in ruins..." she said, her own tail wrapping around Artemis.
