So it's been another crazy week of Destiny news and passionate posts as Bungie dropped the news of the fresh start for D2. Today Paul Tassi of Forbes joins us on bnet to talk about Destiny, where we've where we may go.
What are your thoughts about the announcement? Are you happy for a fresh start or are you going to miss the things left behind?

I have mixed feelings on the subject. I'm perfectly willing to start fresh with a clean slate, but it all depends on what we get in return. I don't want it to be like the transition to TTK, where Y1 players had to leave behind their hard earned items (Y2 items are easy to earn by comparison), only to have them replaced with gear that really wasn't better than what we had in Y1 - it was just higher light level. And in TTK, they abandoned a solid foundation in favor of trying to please the casual masses which really lead to the irrelevance of endgame PVE and put more emphasis on PVP as endgame content. In order to make the fresh start palatable, I need to see 1) a return to the Y1 foundation - the best rewards in the game come from endgame RNG; less emphasis on quests for ELITE level items; 2) Separation of PVE from PVP. Not just elimination of quests that take you into PVP to earn PVE guns and vice versa, but full separation of balance patches. 3) Dedicated servers for both PVE and PVP. And 4) Better netcode. If a fresh start was necessary to get all of that and more? Then it would be well worth it, and I'd do it in a heartbeat - so long as it was the last such event. If not, there's really no reason for me to continue to play the game as the fresh start, combined with other issues in Y2 essentially show that the FPS crowd has won the battle for the soul of Destiny - and that just isn't what I signed up for when I preordered Vanilla and bought the season pass.
