I used to always say that if the main character was silent in a story game then you can't have a good story.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild just blew that thought way out of my head. (Yes this is a love rant on why you should play it)
Now, it still is the "save Hyrule and Zelda by killing Ganon" archetype, don't get any incorrect notions, but it is better than ever.
The characters you meet and the places you go through makes this a real adventure game. They do not limit you to anything you want to do. You could go straight to the castle right after you wake up, for example. The sheer size of this game, the quality of the world, the art, and the variety of the world design makes this game art.
A bit off topic but I'm seeing a lot of people praising Horizon and Gravity Rush. While they are both very good (I've played most of both), Zelda is on another level. There is just more to do and the quality of what you do is higher.
As I said before, there are very little games that can truly label themselves a "true" adventure game and this is one of the few.
Edit spoiler (nothing on Zelda here):
I know this is an opinion, I am not forcing you to believe the same way I do. I strongly believe that this is simply a higher quality game that almost any other game (especially current games). I highly recommend that everyone gives it a play.
Edit1: I'm seeing a lot of people saying they won't buy one console for a game. I understand that hesitation and it's probably smarter than what I did. All I can say to you is that I understand, but it is worth it to play this game.
So what are your thoughts on this magnificent game? Negative or positive, all are welcome here.

But... doesn't link talk?

Edited by Unforgiven: 3/14/2017 2:00:23 AMPlease STOP There is no justification for buying this right now. NONE! Prepare for a rant I cannot think of any sane person who buys a Nintendo Switch unless it is a gift for your child or significant other who is a huge fan of Zelda and wants the latest thing from Nintendo every time it comes out. I have money to spend on games but this seems such a huge waste of money. Even the richest person in the world would think twice about buying it. $300 -blam!-ing dollars. And another $70 for a decent controller. And only 1 game Zelda for another $60. This thing is way too expensive not to come with a game included. The thing is outdated right off the bat with only 720p. I mean 720p touchscreen and 32 gigs of storage and its mediocre specs. NO Mario game at launch? What is Nintendo thinking. No Mario Cart. No Mario World. I can't think of any other Nintendo games right now. Metroid? Whatever. I mean if anyone buys this right off the bat you do realize that Nintendo will probably release an HD version of this console eventually at same price point, and then there will be a lot more games. Because even tablets had nicer screens years ago. The battery life is crap. But Zelda is a great game. I am sure. Or I could spend $250 dollars, and get Playstation 4 Slim and get 500 gb Uncharted and have choice of hundreds of games which you can pick and choose from. Like oh I don't know the New Horizon Zero Dawn, and multitude of others. Even if you own a PS4, you could splurge and PS4 Pro or go back and buy the games you never even played like I dunno Bloodborne or Last of Us, or maybe God of War series. Or hundreds of others. Literally. I dunno it seems like a total waste of money. But hey what do I know. Or you could get Xbox one S, with same 500 gb, and that basic plastic controller that looks like a Child's toy with pack in game whatever it is Battlefield, and then buy discounted Halo and Gears of War, and whatever other titles they got. SMH honestly, whoever bought this is a fool. And I am guessing that you just don't have anything to spend money on or at probably so addicted to video games that you just decided that you would sell your soul to the devil. . There is no Virtual store yet? No video streaming? No web browser. And you can't store your saved games online? @_@.What ? This is 2017? Not 1987 right? This thing is not ready. This is a Beta console and everyone knows it. It is a PILE OF SHIT! And you idiots that bought this that are trying to justify buying it. Please STOP. Insert favorite meme here. You should feel ashamed. I would rather donate money to homeless person than buy this. ANd I hate donating money. have a great day

This is the first positive thing I've seen come out of your mouth
-
I'd rather shoot and get laid
-
Good game but the dungeons aren't as good as they used to be, and I think that's a shame.
-
Metroid Prime has a damn good story and not a word of dialogue is spoken.
-
Journey looked like a cool game. I also wish Master Chief kept his mouth shut. It crushes my soul whenever I hear 343's dribble pouring from his lips.

Edited by Weirdboy99: 3/13/2017 10:00:56 AMThe game is fantastic. The fact that even though the framedrops and some design decisions annoy me as -blam!-, the fact that I played nothing else since it was released, take in mind that I had taken the whole week off to play it, speaks for its quality. I am a bit biased though, I always were a big Zelda fan, having played all games around their release except the CDI ones (I had no CDI player so thank god for that, otherwise I would have probably gotten those too, not much info and no internet so nobody knew how bad they were until much later). And the only one I never finished was Skyward Sword because -blam!- motion controls. I also am a big Portal fan, and disagree or not the dungeons and shrines had a very Portalish feeling, the way you look at the problems are very similar. I know a lot of people feel that the dungeons were a bit lacking, and in a sense I agree but the world makes up for that. And ofcourse that is mainly because of it's open world nature, getting the boomerang in the forest dungeon and the hookshot in the water dungeon just doesn't work in a open world. Still a big "traditional" dungeon at mid point would not have hurt. Story wise Zelda never was about the story, and they were passable at best for the most part IMO, but this time is an exception, sure it is not the best story ever, but it is well writen and executed in this one, which again is fitting for the direction they are going. I also like it how they reference the older Zelda's as cannon and that you immediatly know where in that timeline this game is (although still not sure about Windwaker, they definitly mentioned OOT, TP and SwS). This game is not only GotY material, if it were release last year it would have probably won in all categories except maybe music, which is good but not as great as previous titles IMO. Too bad it came out in 2017, since in April Persona 5 will launch, a game I am waiting more than 10 years for now, otherwise this would have been my GotY, I am pretty sure of that.

Is there a content difference between wii u and switch? (Lookn at u blops 3). Big difference in visuals/graphics.

I find that games with a silent protagonist are really great for role players. Instead of a set character the protagonist can be whatever you want. Even if you're restricted to just doing good deeds, you can still put a personality into the character. Or non-silent protagonists with choice based dialogue, like Fallout 4 was, or Mass Effect. So enjoy Hyrule buddy.
-
It's funny because: BioShocks 1 and 2 The entire Half-Life and Portal saga. ODST The majority of Myst.
-
Main story was way too short and the 'dungeons' were ass. Still a really good game though. Love the durability aspect.
-
Is this an implication that all other Zelda stories are bad because of mute protagonist? Have you played Twilight Princess?
-
Psychic donuts clickbait title. Hilarity insues. You bought a switch? Lol
-
The thing zelda has over those you mentioned is nostalgia, which is fine and unavoidable, but people are also more likely to over look its flaws or downplay them. For example the annoying durability system, stamina and frame rate problems. Still its a incredible game, it's zelda after all but I also can't deny the nostalgia factor.
-
I'm loving it. Hyrule is a vast expanse that begs exploration and promises danger. The world is dense with discoveries with no wrong way to go about your journey to defeat Ganon. It took a week, but now I can see where some the high scores are coming from.
-
And here I am still trying to find the switch to buy...
-
ive been playing horizon and zelda while i do see breath of the wild as a more vivid experience theres something about taking down a ravager or hunting down stalkers thats so enjoyable.

Edited by easydoesitEZ: 3/10/2017 2:19:31 PM9.5/10 IMO The game is damn near perfection. It loses a half a point because I'm really disappointed with the dungeons. They're short and pretty weak. If this were a regular Zelda game, it'd lose a lot more than half a point for that. But the dungeons aren't really necessary and the rest of the game, shrines and roaming bosses specifically, make up for it. Absolutely the best game I've played in years.
If it weren't for the abilities you get from the dungeons being super -blam!-ing useful, I'd recommend skipping over the dungeons entirely. Completely forgettable and do no justice to the franchise.
-
It's really good, but i'm sick of it getting special treatment because it's Zelda. It can do no wrong. Really good, but not 10/10 by any means imo.
-
Just curious if op has ever heard of skyrim (or any of the elder scrolls games for that matter)? Seriously, do you live under a rock?
-
Edited by renots6: 3/10/2017 5:45:50 PMIs it just me or does any anybody else want kontra to be remade?
-
It seems really good. Played about 5 hours. Got it for the wii u. Worth a buy. Not far enough in to say exactly how good it is, but I've enjoyed it so far
-

-
Oh I'll have a quick go on it 3 hours pass

Pfft not better than HORIZON. Donuts stop smoking that reffer. You know that quality of everything on Horizon is much higher than Zelda tablet.
