You know, in this country, we pay for soldiers to go to college, and that's generally okay with the people who are normally against the idea of free tuition, so I want to strike a compromise that I think you will also agree with.
See, we allow our soldiers (even in the reserves HA!) to go to college because they provide us with a very vital service, ensuring the safety of this beautiful country. Without all the soldiers in school, we would never be able to defend ourselves. All those textbooks we pay for are actually better than Kevlar at absorbing bullet damage. Because nothing can damage knowledge, and knowledge is all powerful.
Now, I would also argue we owe another group of people the gift of a college education. We pay for the people who volunteer to defend this country, so we should also pay for the people who were forced against their will to build it.
In fact, I would argue that not only is it morally right, but blacks deserve to have their college tuition paid for, as we made them work for free, and they are the ones who built this country.
And before anyone says something silly like, "not all blacks come from slave families," my response would be that not every military personal gets deployed, but we still pay for their college tuition.
Furthermore, if you disagree, by logical extension, that means you feel as though that we should not be paying the tuition of our military personal.

Sigh...Why does everybody fall for this easy b8? It's honestly kind of discouraging.
-
I'm pleasantly surprised by how few comments there are trying to argue against the OP by way of "Irish slaves".
-
The responses itt are proof of why you're the best.

So by that rationale, descendants of soldiers should have their tuition paid for. And children of convicts should finish out the sentences of parents who died before completing their set incarceration time. Got it.

You make me laugh. I am genuinely entertained by this Have a kitten
Furthermore, if you disagree, by logical extension, that means you feel as though that we should not be paying the tuition of our military personal.
Yes and yes.

Are any of the original slaves alive?.....how about all those that came into play after slavery either being born after or those that immigrated

Great b8 I r8 88/8.

Pretty lame troll post tbh.

Edited by Vicex: 3/18/2017 2:58:11 PMNo. The only way tuition should be completely paid for is people who go into certain fields: sciences (not social ones), IT, etc. while maintaining say, a 3.8 GPA at minimum with perhaps decreased funding graded with lower GPA down to a 3.55. Edit: Actually, scratch that- universities would inflate grades to receive more funding... it would have to be based on a standardised test... perhaps getting a refund for scoring high enough.

Soldiers in the reserves and national guard don't get 100% of their tuition covered. Your knowledge about the subject leaves much to be desired. Free college doesn't mean shit anyway. Most people who get a degree don't get jobs in their pursued field and the ones that do can pay off their loans in 2-3 years.

Edited by Jvp WReNCh: 3/18/2017 8:17:08 AMI'd prefer reparations for slave descendants & free public college tuition for everyone, regardless of race.

So by the logic of your words the ancestors of Irish slaves whom were treated worse than any other race during the building of this country should have all tuition payed also because hey we owe them.

This is some of the stupidest shit I've ever read.

Honestly, this is probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen on this website.

Edited by Tux: 3/18/2017 2:35:09 PMWe didn't start slavery, we ended it. We don't owe blacks from what happened to their great great great grandparents
gr8 b8
No black person alive today in the U.S. is a slave, so...
-
No, because not all blacks here were slaves. Not all whites here were responsible for taking the ones who were over. No we should not give them free college BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO BUILT THIS COUNTRY. Who settled Pennsylvania and Texas? Germans. Who built the railroad system and did most of the work in the 1800s in the north and west? Chinese and Irish. Who settled at Jamestown, creating the first English colony here? English. Who built those skyscrapers in New York? Not slaves, white AND black WORKERS. So should all of us get free college too because we built the country just like the people you assume built the country? And btw, a majority of the slaves for a majority of the years only worked on and built plantations in the south, which yes, boosted southern economy, however didn't do anything for the industrial north, that was built by free people. So nice try Cellar, maybe think intelligently like the physics professor you're supposed to be rather then a racist jerk who deprives other minorities and races of college and money because we need to pay taxes to send one minority to college "because they built our country."
