Guess What Offtopic? They "photoshoped" Pictures Long Before Computers

The above picture of general Grant was made in 1902 by combining three different pictures into one. If they could do this at the very start of the 20th century, what makes you think they couldn't "photoshop" the moon landings in 1969? Or contemporary images of the round earth? Only a little over 500 individuals even claim to have entered space since Yuri Gagarin in 1961 a little over 50 years ago. So let me as you this: what gives you such implicit faith in the things you are shown by sources of authority? You doubt, question, and accuse the the government up and down when it comes to political matters. But as soon as nasa or science come into the picture, the government is somehow infallible and beyond reproach. Why do you have this double standard? Please answer my above question before asking me a counter question. I'm fine with answering questions, but I want to hear your response to this one first.
So let me as you this: what gives you such implicit faith in the things you are shown by sources of authority? But as soon as nasa or science come into the picture, the government is somehow infallible and beyond reproach. Why do you have this double standard?
I think we need to believe in something greater than ourselves, be it science, government or religion. So we trust the people in authority to a degree. Then you couple them with science, how can it be wrong? Science is awesome & explains things to us, so science can't be wrong. It is a belief system. We crave having something good & true in our lives. We know the government lies to us, but science can't lie, so it must balance it out. We want it to, so we believe it does. That is how we get the double standard. My question to you is coming from a buddy who served in the military, so forgive me if I screw up anything. We are both hunters & like shooting. I am decent, he went into the military & was trained as a sniper. He can make some crazy long shots, just huge distances. So, he says, that when you shoot at a certain range, you have to use math, I think trigonometry, to factor in wind speed, curvature of the earth, bullet travel speed, gravity, resistance of rhe air, & what not. He also said that a head shot does not enter the front of the head, but drops down from above, entering from the top of the head, which is due to the curvature of our planet being a giant ball. So, with that in mind, how would you explain that? No rush to answer this one Hoss, I figure you may have to do some research, partly just to make sure I did not screw up the info I provided. Any mistakes are on me, I do not have the training he does, but your posts reminded me of the conversation he & I had about it when he was honorably discharged from service a few years ago.
