One. Half. Only.
The least favorite adjective for one who has or had a twin.
One name that brings sadness when heard. One goodbye that was the hardest. One spirit that is restless. Half of heart, gone. Only one left.
Sarah couldn't sleep. She was crying. Her helmet lay near the gate.
Her sister's pistol at her belt. Her sister's cloak, folded in her arms.
Grief... nothing but grief. No other emotions aside from sadness.
One. The word rang through Sarah's head.
She is the only surviving Grey. The only one. She was left with a broken bond.
One.

The soft sound of an approaching being was heard, as a shadow was cast over her body. It was...a taller woman, about six feet and three inches tall. A dark longcoat was upon her body, as she bore no forms of weaponry. Her face was pale, while she looked to be in her thirties, as her light blue eyes revealed a cold sadness and experience within them. She stood over Sarah, sighing as she kneeled down next to the Guardian's body. "...You alright, kiddo?" She offered a hand, willing to help the young woman up. She didn't know the Guardian, but...the look upon her face suggested that she was more than willing to help. That she actually cared.
-
She sniffled as she took the stranger's hand.
-
"That's it. C'mon, it'll be fine." The woman lifted Sarah up, letting go and wrapping her arm around the Guardian's back in an almost motherly manner. "...You're Sarah, yes?"
-
"How do you know me?" She asked.
-
"Heard some things, about a Guardian dying...permanently. I did some research, found you... Sorry for bringing up the memory...I'm Irina. One of the older members around the Dojo. You want to head someone that's better suited for this sort of thing? If you want, you can hang around my apartment for a bit, and I'll get your helm."
-
She was flattered, "I-"
-
"...Something wrong? Look, if I'm...appearing too friendly, or embarrassing you...go ahead and tell me, alright?" Irina looked into Sarah's eyes, as if begging for the truth.
-
"Too friendly to be true..." She muttered.
-
"Look, I'm just going to tell you this: I'm not a good person. If there's a hell, out there in wherever we go when we die - then I'm ending up in the bottom layer, alright? I'm just trying to redeem myself. Trying to do some good for a change. Already f*cked up with other people, so...I'm trying to find people that I can genuinely care for. I wish - no, I hope - that you can be one of those people, Sarah. From what I can tell? You're a good kid. Someone that I'd need to...to calm down with."
-
"Good person. I'm not a kid..."
-
"Bet I'm older than you. Well...I think. Never mind, thought it would be cool to call you "kid" or some crap."'Irina's sarcastic, yet somewhat joking personality came out for a moment, to try and brighten the mood.
-
"Listen... I understand that you must redeem yourself. But..."
-
"Yep, already know where this is heading." Irina sighed in an almost passive aggressive manner, as if she was trying to hold back yet failing terribly.
-
"Don't fear. I trust you. Just that how you knew me was creepy. You could've introduced yourself, and offered to help, and not say anything about researching me."
-
"That would still be quite creepy if you found out later on, though you have a point.."
-
"Yeah... but... you could've... not talked about it."
-
*Mortar formed next to her, unsure of what to say* Um, Sarah...
-
She simply didn’t hear him. Tears streaming down her cheeks.
-
*He kneels next to her, not quite sure why she is crying. He puts a hand on her shoulder, trying to be empathetic * What's wrong Sarah?
-
"She's dead... poor Mia..." She saud, sniffling.
-
*Mortar raises a brow. "Mia?" he thinks. There is a Mia that he knows at the Dojo, but Sarah couldn't be this hysterical if that one died. Can she? Unsure what to do, he kneels next to her, trying to be as empathetic as possible
-
"My twin, the Hunter." She buries her face in her sister's cloak.
-
*"Okay, wrong one" he thinks to himself.* I'm... I'm very sorry for your loss. Had I known she would die I would have done something...
-
"Sarah?" She hears Fionn's voice, soft and quiet. The Hunter kneels beside her, pulling her into a hug.
-
She hugs back, crying.
