I do not speak for the community but personally I like this update. I saw that elemental primaries were coming back in exotic form, I was pretty dissapointed at first. I played year 1 and also ran the holy trinity of Fate, Hammer, and Gally. I felt powerful ripping through Vault and Crota. It was the only load out I ever ran basically.
However I do see the direction they took on this. Diversity. During year 1 you were not accepted in raid groups without the combo of Fate, Hammer, and Gally. Although I questioned all the nerfs and what have you. I was pissed when they took everything in Taken King and a lot of weapons seemed horrible to use unless it was a 1000 yrd Stare or vendor Hung Jury. There was at least a little variety. Then came the April Update and with it came a little more variety.
With ROIs release came more a lot more variety. Pulses, Autos, and Scouts that can roll with some significant game changing perks. Needless to say although content was very short lived I seen players use all type of load outs for PVE content. PVP on the other hand is still filled with more of the same usual load outs.
In closing I am pretty impressed with these new changes. It still promotes weapon diversity while tactically thinking about your weapon load outs with elemental damage. At the same time preventing the "required" load outs to run certain content. I don't agree with the timeframe they decided all this to come to play and it really could of been well thought out prior to releasing the game as a whole or even implementing this change with the release of Taken King. Too little too late.
