Chapter 2: Beachhead
Arriving at the islands
3:30 PM
Haknir stood at the front of the ship and looked out, seeing what he had been looking for all this time. A group of islands became noticeable in the distance. The outer islands, which were much smaller and empty, formed a circle around a much larger island. The middle island was blanketed by a dense jungle with a mountain in the center. On the mountain stood a very large structure. The building looked like it was put together with junk, yet it was built up quite high and sturdy with multiple separate wings on the lower parts of it.
They sailed past the smaller islands where a few pirates stayed on straight to the larger islands. Those pirates set off series of symbols that traveled across each piece of land straight to the main island, alerting them of the unknown ship arriving. Haknir looked to the crew.
"Get ready everyone, they're going to be expecting us."
On the beach of the island, a small group of pirates formed up, awaiting the arrival of the ship. There were 5 of them, all rather tall and bulky and each holding large swords, ready to use them if need be.
Open, have fun my fellow adventurers.
She proceeded to reload and fire a third shot straight into that same spot.
-
The third shot killed him and Hak and Ed killed one too. Three were left and they started fighting defensive.

Edited by Orn: 3/29/2017 10:29:36 PM"And thus, we have reached our destination." Olythran spoke, his armor now dried and somewhat repaired after the encounter with the beastly serpent. He had removed his helmet for the time-being, clutching the visor of the helm within his left hand as he held his poleaxe with his right, his lime green eyes narrowing as he saw the group of pirates. A faint smile crossed his face, but it was far from joy - oh, it was bloodlust: Olythran hated pirates, murderers and thieves, and he'd certainly have fun with this bunch. "Quit being so damn edgy," Octavia muttered beside her brother, as she drew her dagger and recently acquired sword from the cache - a 25" inch long steel broadsword, a weapon that she had found to like within the supplies that the ship held. She was fully armored in what light apparel that she had, her caged helmet hiding away her lime green eyes as she stared upon the pirates. She looked over at Haknir, a friendlier tone taking place as she asked a question. "You're acting as if they didn't expect us already. Will they attack?"
-
"Well lots of pirates come here and this is a pirate ship, but they probably weren't expecting visitors this time." They got closer and the pirates waited patiently for them on the beach, but not happy or amused by any means.
-
Octavia: "Are we even bothering to negotiate? Or are we attacking head-on? Oly might lose it here, so if the former...keep him on the ship." Olythran was indeed clutching his poleaxe tightly, his helmet now encasing his head as he chuckled deeply to himself. It was obvious that this man wasn't exactly safe around the pirates - well, unless he had the intention of killing them.
-
Haknir, being a pirate, stayed clear from Oly and turned to Octavia. "Negotiating might work, but we'd still have to kill them, otherwise suspicion would continue to grow."
-
Olythran: "Bah..." Octavia: "Sounds good to me. I'll be waiting 'till we get on land, then.." Octavia muttered something to Olythran, whereas he only sighed deeply and nodded in response. He wasn't too happy, as he left the pirate and the Peacekeeper.
-
They reached the island and a voice rang out from below. "Hey! Who are you people to just barge right into our island?!"
-
Octavia: "Travelers from a different land, in search of hospitality and a place to settle upon. I am Maria, a fellow traveler among those upon this ship. And you are?" "Maria" was doing the thing that she was best at - lying.
-
"Well we're afraid that you've come to the wrong island. We have nothing to offer here for travelers."
-
"We're running low on supplies, and are in need of shelter! We can pay you for allowing us to settle upon this island, if only for a moment.." Haknir could probably tell that Octavia was itching for a fight. And Olythran was too, as murmurs too quiet for Haknir could be heard from somewhere in the ship - murmurs of "righteous judgement" and "they will feel my wrath.."
-
"Payment, huh? How much?" Seeing that she wanted to fight and barely hearing the murmurs, Hak interrupted. "Payment? I didn't agree to that! You can take my money off of my dead body!" The pirates smiled at this and replied while drawing their swords. "Gladly!"
-
"About time-" "Yeahahaha!!" Olythran's yell sounded aboard the ship, as he immediately lunged over the ship's railing and onto the ground, fully armored and with his poleaxe. Octavia soon joined him, drawing her weapons as her brother beckoned the pirates forward.
-
They drew their swords and began walking forward, slightly defensive.
-
Olyhtran and Octavia began to circle the grouped pirates, the giant Lawbringer on their left while the lean Peacekeeper took to the right. It was a matter of confusion and surprise at this point, and would certainly be completed with Haknir and the crew joining the fray.
-
Edward and Hak were the first ones there. They helped surround them. The pirates now became very defensive. One whistled for help and they began to move back into the jungle.
-
"No Superstes!!" Olythran yelled as both the Lawbringer and Peacekeeper began their assault - Olythran swung his poleaxe in a horizontal fashion with hopes of cleaving some pirates in half, while Octavia grabbed a singular one, stabbed him through the chin and merely used his body as a human shield.
-
The pirates seemed not to care about the human shield, slashing about to get through him. They broke formation and attacked wildly seeing there was no way out.
Just end them, I'm gonna make the new post.
Edited by TheChemist: 3/30/2017 1:08:01 AMAltar walked up next to Haknir. "Who's that?"
-
I thought you were using Altar
"They're some guards for the island, they're probably wondering who we are and why we're here. They won't be too happy to know why."
-
Dangit. Haven't even put Tara in this one yet. Fixed
"Well, it's too bad we have to ruin their day."
-
"We'll probably ruin a lot of people's days." When they hit the beach, one pirate yelled up at them. "Hey! What are you worthless dogs doing on our island?"
-
"Why do you care?" She gave the pirates a mischievous look.
-
"Well this is our island. And you aren't supposed to be here."
-
"Well, that's not gonna work. Just ask this guy." She points to Haknir.
