Chapter Seventeen
Royal stood in the thin layer of snow that had settled in the grand city of Teluria. The buildings were tall and glassy and reached for the skies wherever they were. People drove their cars at incredible speeds as the roads were very wide, which was interesting considering that this was a densely populated city. It was a infrastructural miracle in a way. The weather was chilly, so the snow had remained there for the many days since it did snow. People walked past Roy and Joseph, talking about how weird it was that it happened.
"Roy. C'mon." Joseph said as he continued to walk.
For Roy
-
"Well go on, boss. Open the door." Roy Crossed his arms, waiting for Joseph to make a move
-
Joseph opened the door so the two could enter. The office was dim and dark. There was a Mahogany desk near the back and light crept through the blinds on be window. There were shelves on the left side of the room, stacked with books and drinks. There was a lamp that lit the desk up, and there was a figure who had their back away from the two on their entrance. They could only see a patch of black hair from the figure who sat on the large chair. There were two chairs in front of the desk. "You don't have to stand. Sit down." The voice told them. Joseph shrugged as he sat down in the left chair.
-
Royal took a seat in the right chair, looking at the chair were the back of the man's head would be
-
"Jospeh Anderson. Former leader of the north peak resistance turned Coldbourne sergeant." The person In the chair said. Joseph raised an eyebrow and his leg bobbed up and down. "How did you...?" "And Royal of the Dojo. Sensei, warrior, and a list of other professions that make you rather distinguished."
-
"Yup." Royal said, leaning back in the chair
-
The chair turned around, which revealed a character Royal may not have been expecting. There was a woman sitting in the large black leather chair. She had dark brown skin and a long set of black hair. Her eyes were large and her lips were pursed as she tapped on the tablet she held in her arm. "You two tracked my location rather quick. It's not like I made it difficult to begin with but when people seek me out I tend to want to know why." The shadow said to the two of them.
-
"We're looking for Lilly Coldbourne's new Alias, which we're assuming you gave her." Royal said, just being straight up honest
-
"Straight to the point hey?" She asked as she looked at Roy. She seemed like she was in a constant state of anger the way her face was constructed. "I like it." She suddenly said. "Too many idiots walk through that door and want to talk about the weather or some such nonsense. Quite frankly its a waste of my time. I like someone who has a sense of..." She stopped for a moment as she eyed Royal. "...Urgency. Now, Why are you looking for the girl? She's got quite the name."
-
"We're trying to turn her against the other Coldbournes." Royal said, keeping his honesty
-
"He is. That is." Joseph stated. "I just want to find her. We'll figure things out from there." "My. That plan is...sociopathic, don't you think? Turning a girl against her own family?" The shadow asked Roy.
-
"Her family turned her against her brother. They killed her brother in front of her very eyes and she watched him take his last breaths. All I want is for her to not get involved when I return the favour."
-
"I suppose that is vaguely noble of you." She stated. "The issue is, she was never here. I never gave her any alias, nor did I send her on her way. I can find out where she is though..."
-
"What's your price?" Royal asked calmly, thinking that someone of her stature would like something in return
-
"Ha! What's the price. Well, I would like to know more about-" Suddenly she was interrupted as the bartender walked into the room. "Ma'm" he started, "We have some guests." "Guests?" The shadow asked. She stood up from her chair and walked to the blinds. She pulled some down and looked through. "Mmmm. Royal, Joseph, you may want to see this." Joseph stood up from his chair and walked to the blinds. "Shit." He said softly.
-
Royal stood up as well, going to the Windows and looking into the club
-
Royal saw that a dozen armed men made their way into the club. All wore white Kevlar and black uniforms. "The Coldbournes..." Joseph said. "Tell you what." The shadow started, "If you get rid of these guards for me, I'll give you the leads you need to find the princess. Deal?"
-
"Done deal." Royal said, a silenced pistol forming in his hand
-
"Good." The shadow said as she moved back to her desk. She pressed a button on the lamp and a hidden drawer slid out. She took out a .44 revolver that had a red dot sight as well as a laser sight. Then she picked up a blacked out Glock and threw it to Joseph who caught it. "After you, Royal." The shadow said as she gestured to the door.
-
Royal opened the door, holding the nine Millimeter silenced hand gun to his side as he moved out into the club
-
"Oh shit! GUN!" One of the soldiers yelled. All of them threw up tables and chairs and took cover. There were eight of them total. The civilians ran out of the club screaming as the battle began. Joseph slid out of the doorway and flipped up a table that Roy could get behind.
-
Royal didn't. His N7 armour formed around him, as he let loose two bullets towards the Coldbourne troops. He spun to the side, flipping over his own table and getting behind that
-
One of the soldiers popped out of cover, but his face exploded with red as the shadow made her way out. She moved left, behind the bar so she could flank the soldiers. They began to fire on Jospeh, so the man was suppressed.
-
Royal peaked out from behind the table, firing off a few rounds at the enemy who was suppressing Joseph
-
The rounds cut through the table and one of the men dropped to the ground. The shadow then shot from her flanking position and took down another man who let out a yell. Joseph blindfired from behind his cover. "Agh..." Joseph let out audibly. As royal looked over he saw that a shot pierced through the table. And that Joseph's stomach was bleeding. He looked up to Roy and waved the problem away in dismissal. "Just keep firing!" He told Roy.
-
Royal closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. "Here goes." He stood up from the cover, jumping over the table and letting loose two bullets, throwing his hand gun to the side and pushing out a Palm, setting out a wave of fire
