Chapter Eighteen.
The stone paved intersection was black with soot and smelled of corroded blood. Bjorn, son of Bal, had made his way to the town known as "Gregors freeway." This was the last known sighting of Cain Coldbourne. The man who had been there before him, Ite, and old member of the dojo, died where he stood. No one knew how, besides the fact it was an explosion. Cain walked away, Ite did not. Now, Bjron had to end Cain's control of the Tatakoi plains. It seemed that his presence somehow produced a cold winter over the area as a thin layer of snow set itself on the ground around the burns of the road. However, Cain was not to be seen. Was it possible that he retreated after the fight? Maybe. That being said, why would he? Nothing had stopped him so far.
"It was a hell of a fight." Said a voice from behind Bjorn. As the warrior turned, he saw a larger man with a peacoat on. "That Cain though. He's a tough warrior."

A few panels slid back, and it revealed his face so he could speak without being muffled. As Bjorn exhaled a plume of vapor, electricity sparked throughout the condensed water. It spread outwards, arcing around him and into the ground. He looked around at the snowy landscape, reminiscing about some event in the past. "It certainly sounded like it. You know, this place seems a lot like my home... snowy, cold and barren. Almost perfect conditions for conducting electricity. Who might you be, kind sir?" Bjorn asked.
-
"As nice as you might sound, I think it's probably best we skip to the part of the conversation where you ask me where the horseman went don't you?" The man asked Bjorn with a hostile manner.
-
Bjorn's friendly smile had quickly turned into a grimace as soon as the man showed shown hostile feelings towards him. Bjorn's voice became more gruff as he addressed the man, his fingers drumming menacingly on his hilt. "You seem quick to the point. Why must you be so hostile? You know not of my reasons to be searching for Cain, but you act resentful. Now then, if I no longer have to hide my intentions..." As he trailed off, Bjorn's left arm had ejected a small disc which had been hissing throughout their conversation. The air around Bjorn seemed to be distorted, the disc on his wrist appearing to be the source. "Where can I find Cain?" He asked.
-
"Not here." The man said bluntly. "After the last fight he left the town. He went west. That's all I can tell you. The plains are open there but there's some forests as well."
-
Bjorn nodded at the man in polite thanks, having turned away towards the west. He tapped a button on the side of his helmet, and his visor covered his face once more. As soon as the man showed only anger and that he was not a threat, the disc on his arm retracted and ceased the distortion. Having removed his hand from his hilt, the lock on the sword's handle locked once more with a click. "I bid you farewell. The information you gave me is satisfactory for my mission." Said Bjorn as he walked away, his boots leaving large marks in the thin layer of snow.
-
As he continued on he eventually made his way out of town and onto the open plains. The thin coat of snow covered the ground as far as he could see. Ahead, there seemed to be a large patch of forest in the middle of the plains.
-
Trudging through the snow, Bjorn couldn't help but remember his home. The small amount of snow reminded him of spring and summer in the steppes, and how the ice never really thawed at any point in time. It just was... there. It reminded him a lot of how the cold had just appeared with Cain's arrival, and never went away. As Bjorn got closer to the forest, his sword unlocked with a "click" in preparation for the inevitable fight. Even though he thought it impossible, he would still try for peace.
-
He made his way into the cold looking woods. They were all pine tree's, however. So the beautifully rich green showed under the hoarfrost of the snow.
-
As he made his way through the forest, Bjorn's helmet slid back to reveal his face once more. Taken aback by the beauty of the scenery, he could not help but recollect memories long left behind. Training, hunting, long days gathering wood for the winter... but he pushed them back. His expression hardened, and his face was obscured by the metallic mask of war. Trudging onwards, Bjorn knew what would have to be done... and he was ready.
-
He eventually saw a clearing past the tree's. He made his way out of he treeline and found himself on a large flat plane once more. Tree's surrounded the snow covered clearing and the tall pines made it. So he could see no more past him. Then, out from the woods, rode what could only be one man. His triangular armour looked beaten, but still protective, and his dead looking flaming horse rode him out to the clearing. The ride stopped, then looked at Bjorn from across the clearing. They wouldn't be able to talk to one another, not from here, but that didn't stop Bjorn from realizing a small line of blue flames had risen from the ground right in front of him and it followed the tree line all around the clearing.
-
Unfaltering, Bjorn began to make his way towards Cain. Steeping across the line, he continued getting closer until within speaking distance. The disc on his wrist ejected, and the large plasma shield roared to life with a hiss. Sword in hand, Bjorn points towards Cain with the tip. "You have slain Alex, Ite, and enslaved lands in the name of your father; But what for? To earn a sadistic monster's love who would cast you aside like a piece of trash if you did anything to protest against his will? You stood and watched as your kin was killed. Is this really what you want? Are you sure you are on the right side of history?" He stood in silence, his visor staring down Cain coldly as the question sat heavy in the air. The land around him distorted with heat as if he already knew Cain's answer, and was preparing for the worst.

Edited by Inflatablepants: 4/29/2017 7:06:23 PMThe flames around the clearing roared to life and rose into the sky. There was no escape now.
Red zone
Cain stepped closer to Bjorn as he rode his horse. His cold spear was in his right hand, but he seemed calm. "It is not a quest of love, but my duty to stay loyal to my family." Cain told Bjorn. "If I am to be on the wrong side of history, so be it. It is the burden I must bear." Cain looked at Bjorn and inhaled deeply. "You...seem prepared. I will have you know that no man has bested me in single combat before. If you wish to leave I will allow it. But if you wish to fight, I will oblige."
-
A chuckle arose from under Bjorn's helmet, his shield glowing at full strength. Electricity crackled along the edge of his blade, flowing downwards into the thin layer of snow. Clouds formed above the two warriors, creating an arena almost devoid of light except for the flames and lightning that sparked off of Bjorn. Thunder rumbled above as lightning lit up the ring in bursts of light almost blinding in nature. A blast of electricity struck Bjorn and charred the surrounding ground black, which then caused the distorted area to suddenly crackle and hiss with millions of volts of energy. He took up a defensive stance, preparing for the legendary fight to come. "And to that, I say the same thing. None have penetrated my stalwart defense, nor bested me in strategy. This shall be an epic combat that I hope none of us regret. To the victor may the spoils go." Gripping down on his sword, Bjorn prepared for Cain. He was ready for a fight, and not a hint of weakness could be found in his defiant gaze.

Edited by Inflatablepants: 4/29/2017 8:19:32 PM"Indeed." Cain said softly as he brought his steeds front legs up. He raised his spear into the air and white fire ignited from the spear as floating ice spears identical to that of the one in his hand appeared around his head. There were eight of them in total and they were in a constant state of moving around behind and above Cain's helm. With that, he charged at Bjorn with incredible speed.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=gm7qQ8ijrUE
The horse had cod blue looking fire trail behind her as Cain road directly at Bjorn. His steed was so fast, in fact it seemed faster then some super cars as it accelerated past 100 miles per hour in under five seconds and charged at the man who had challenged him.
-
As Cain approached with insane speed, Bjorn did something nobody would do if they were in their right mind when faced with such a situation: He slammed his left foot forwards, steadying his shield with one arm. The plasma pulsed strongly before expanding to an even large size, and it formed a massive tower shield that covered most of his body. The generator in his wrist roared with power as it distorted the area around him, the disturbance now formed into a bubble ten feet wide centered on his wrist. Once Cain was in striking distance, Bjorn swung his sword towards the legs of the horse in an attempt to take it and it's rider down. His shield was raised slightly upwards, covering all of his body except for a small portion of his legs and the arm he was striking with.
A but rusty in combat, but bear with me. I just need a few posts to warm up.
-
As Cain approached the shield, a churning circle of flames appeared in front of Bjorn. Cain ran right into the circle as the blade of Bjorn cleaved through the circle, but suddenly Cain and his steed disappeared through it. The flames dispersed, and Bjorn heard the hoofs of a horse behind him. Then, he felt the spear pierce his back. Cain knocked the soldier on his face as his dragon spear impaled his armour. Cain rode past Bjorn then and tore his spear from his opponents back as he made his pass.
-
Bjorn stood up from the sudden strike, slamming the bottom of his shield into the ground. As it formed an opaque bubble around him, he yelled out to Cain. "So your flame allows for teleportation? It seems I must other means of attack if I wish to defeat you." He slammed his sword into the ground near his right leg before he drew a massive rifle from his side. Holding it one-handed, he aimed it towards Cain. A hole opened up in the direction he aimed before he fired off three four-round bursts of bullets.
-
Cain began to ride his steed in circles around Bjorn as the Bullets fired. The steed was able to move faster then Bjorn could aim, but one of the bullets pierced its side and it stumbled. Suddenly, Cain leapt off his steed. He jumped high, and seemed to hover in the air for a second before his figure propelled forward at Bjorn as his horse ran away into the wall of flames and dissolved. Cain landed right in front of Bjorn, and thrusted his spear towards the man with his right arm as he kept his left extended.
-
As Cain leapt towards Bjorn, he had to make a quick decision: try to generate his shield and block the blow in time, or try and block it with his left hand. As Cain neared him, Bjorn made his decision. He raised his left arm, spreading his fingers outwards with his palm placed in front of the head. It slammed into his palm, piercing through with a sickening crunch. Pushing it just slightly to the side, he manages to deflect it at the cost of his left hand. Blood sprayed onto his helmet and across Cain's chest, and Bjorn lets out a terrifying yell. "GO -blam!- YOURSELF!" He raised his rifle, slamming his finger down on the trigger and firing the sixteen bullets left in the mag at point-blank range. Due to him holding it in one hand it sprays perilously upwards in a scraggly line.
-
But to his horror... His attack, did nothing. The rebounded off of Cain. They flew into the ground around him and he stared at Bjorn for a moment as he held his spear through the man's hand. Suddenly the sound of hoofs came out of Bjorns right ear, and then he felt four legs pound him and trample him to the ground as the spear ripped out from his hand cleanly. Cain grabbed onto his steed and rode away from Bjorn and put distance between the two.
-
For a few seconds, Bjorn appeared to be dead. His gun laying adjacent to he arm, his sword planted firmly in the ground to his left. The residue of the bubble could be seen flickered faintly, having taken the brunt of the horse's hooves. Still, dents could be seen in throughout his back. Electricity suddenly coursed throughout the air around him, pulling at his limbs and forcing his body into an upright position. Cursing, he placed his hand on the pommel of his sword, using it as a makeshift cane. "You're the first person to have made me bleed... you know that? And I have to say..." Bjorn tore off his helmet, tearing the metal seal and leaving the imprint of a hand on the visor. Underneath it revealed a handsome face covered in small amount of blood that trickled from a cut made when his face was slammed into the dirt. A faint smile became apparent as he spoke, clearly thrilled by the challenge. "I'm impressed. But still; I cannot afford to lose this fight. I hope that my mother's memory will not be sullied by what I am about to do." By the time he had finished speaking, the field of distortion had almost increased to forty feet in radius from his arm. Tearing at his chest and right arm, Bjorn pulled chunks of his armor off crudely and threw them too the ground. With every piece removed, the electricity surrounding him and the storm above became more intense, until nothing was left but his shield gauntlet. A rather muscular physique, Bjorn was not a push over in terms of strength. He grabbed the hilt of his sword, electricity now burning a dark imprint in the ground. The distortion seemed to be conducting the electricity to insane amounts, allowing for an almost exponential increase now that his limiting armor was removed. However, scars could be seen starting to burn their way into his flesh, as if the shear amount of power was too much for his body to handle. "Without my armor... I am no longer contained. My power is let lose, whether it choose to destroy you..." He raised his sword and shield, preparing for what he thought to be his most difficult fight yet. "Or me." Electricity slammed into his body, magnified by the de-stabilized plasma that he had been building up throughout the fight. The bright light produced by the reaction was nothing short of blinding, almost as if hundred of suns had suddenly burnt a hole in the atmosphere. A glowing figure walked towards Cain, shield and sword in hand. Bjorn had given into the power of the storm... and now it was up to it to guide his blade.
-
"Then let it be so." Cain stated slowly as he spun his dragon spear in his hand. He raised his hand to the air once more, and spears made of ice moved around his head. From this range he sent all eight of the spears flying in a direct line towards his now empowered foe.
-
As soon as the first three of the spears entered the bubble of lightning surrounding Bjorn, they were almost burnt away into steam instantaneously. The next two that neared him were shattered as they penetrated one of the inner layers of the somewhat shield-like bubble, their pieces falling aside to the ground. Of all eight, only three reached Bjorn. Two of which burned away on his shield, melted and evaporated by the heat, and the one that penetrated his defenses sliced a large gash across his chest through the dense cloth covering his body. Continuing his advance, Bjorn speaks once more when around twenty feet away. "You... are within my range." He screamed in rage and pain, thrusting his sword towards Cain. In an instant lightning repeated strikes at Cain's position and the surrounding area, pouring millions of volts into the ground and air. The skin on Bjorn's arms starts to burn, it becoming cracked and charred from the amount of energy coursing through him.
-
Cain attempted to ride out of the way, his horse speeding as fast as it could. But one of the thrusts hit the man's steed. This sent both Cain and his horse flying away a small distance and made them both crash on the ground. Cain stood up, haggered. He knelt down beside his flaming steed which lay on the ground, but the beast rose back up, its flames burning less. He smacked the horses rear and it bolted away towards the flaming wall as Cain spun his spear around and began to approach Bjorn. Cain raised his spear past his shoulder and put his left hand forward as he took aim with his walk.
-
Completely enraged and taken by the storm, Bjorn thrust his shield towards Cain instead of his sword. This triggered a release of electricity that arced forwards from the shield, shooting straight for Cain's left arm. Suddenly charging, Bjorn almost disappeared with speed as his body became semi-transparent, retaining it's solidity and shape. He continued to aim his shield towards Cain, releasing a steady stream of powerful electricity.
