Why do YOU still play Destiny?
Seriously...
I popped on last night to play a few strikes, but after 1 Strike I just felt sick and switched off. I looked at all the pathetic posts on LFG:-
* 400's Only
* 3 deaths you get booted
* Must have Emblem
* 20+ Raid Clears Only (Checking Stats)
* No Squeakers
Destiny 2 is just around the corner and people are still taking this shit serious; for gear that is going to be obsolete in a month or 2. NOTHING IS GETTING CARRIED OVER!
Don't you guys understand?
I can understand sub 5000 Grimoire Iron Pups that just recently bought the game are still playing, but for everyone else; what keeps you playing this re-skinned / rehashed garbage?

1. I play the game because I enjoy it. I had fun (though it was frustrating at times) helping a clan mate and his son through their first clears of the Crota's End challenge modes. 2. Those kinds of posts on LFG are basically announcements by people who are poor raid leaders. If I'm looking for a game, I'm basically thanking them for making it clear that I want nothing to do with them. 3. I understand very clearly that NOTHING in this game is real and NOTHING about this game matters beyond its capacity to allow me to have FUN. ...and I still have fun playing this game. On those rare occaisions when I'm feeling somewhat burned out....I put DOWN the game...and I go play something else. My playing Horizon Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda has helped to keep Destiny fresh for me. Bottomline? All loot-based RPGS are grinds. If you don't enjoy grinding...then this isn't the game for you. Just that simple.

Honestly, I just get on to play with a buddy when he's on. If he stopped playing I wouldn't play Destiny. But we get on shoot the shit, run strikes, patrols, bounties just to hang out. I don't really care about getting anything new or playing with anything old. As the post says, in a few months this stuff will be obsolete, and all these requirements are tiresome. I understand 100% not wanting to spend 10 hours on a raid that's 3 years old that we've completed numerous times, but some of these post make it sound like their looking for MLGers. Calm down guys, it's a video game. While year one LFG wasn't NEARLY as bad as it now with these year 2 and year 3 people, (because MOST of year one players have left) LFG has some stupid requirements. Gotta get an emblem somehow but can't get it because no one will take them without it. STUPID..... This is why I haven't LFG'd for a year, shit just get's stupid. And since ALL but one of my vanilla raid buddies have left Destiny, there's nothing to do except just shoot the shit with the one guy on my friends list who plays this game. Hopefully destiny 2 will bring back some of the old players, bring in some new friends, remove retarded requirements from LFG, actually be fun again, people who listen, people who know how to follow directions, people who don't rage quit, people who just wanna have fun and realize it's just a game and enjoy it for what it is.

I've played since the first alpha. I still play because despite the people who think that getting that new shiny piece of loot is the only thing that matters, the game is actually fun to play. It's even more fun when you have friends to play with. The gunplay is some of the best I've experienced and the art direction/music is top tier. Do I need to take a hiatus from it once in a while? Of course, I've taken a break for a month or more after each expansion but i always come back because it's a game I know I can have fun with. I'm sure there are lots of people who played/play WoW or other MMO's and RPG's that feel the same way.

Because after I found several good friends...I don't need lfg anymore. It's a game where we can hang out, do some stuff and goof around with each other.

I still play because I genuinely enjoy it. It's not a game that I'll sit down and play for 4+ hours anymore, but I'll still log on at least 4 days a week to relax for a bit.

Now answering to your question: I lost interest in playing Destiny since I knew that nothing that I achieve in this iteration of the game will matter to the next. And when I say nothing I mean really nothing (with exception to the characters). So why waste my time grinding endless hours for emblems, shaders, nice armor and great guns if all of them will carry no value whatsoever to the next season of the game? Yes I still play Destiny once in a while just because it's gunplay is fun. I do some of the "new" Heroic Missions and that's almost everything I do.

Before any of you respond to this post I quite frankly don't want to hear your life story of "O, I have x amount of kids, x amount of wives, x amount of jobs, x amount of geezers to take care of, and x amount of responsibilities. I still have time to carry people, what's your excuse?" I don't care. I've got my own shit to do, compadre.

No game I've played since destiny released, except maybe borderlands ( I came to that series pretty late) has done it for me. Say what you want about Bungie, but nobody makes fps feel quite as good as they do Edit: I guess why I've found myself in a 3 year love affair with the game is it's accessible. I played pretty hardcore for y1 and 2. But after my daughter was born last year, I obviously have limited time now. Destiny is a game I can jump on for an hour at the end of the day and knock out a raid or a few games of pvp, get my shooting fix, get my loot fix, then jump back off. I guess I'm what you would call a casual now, but still, destiny just does it for me.

I play because i like the game , or else i wouldn`t be playing it anymore. For much of the rest, people make lots of excuses for not doing certain aspects of the game. I`m very antisocial and i was able to make friends in this game, friends that helped me made most of all those things people complain about. Stop whining, make friends and play the game, have fun. When a game stops being fun, i stop playing and move to another thing, but i never judge anyone for playing what they like just because i`m bored or what ever. Can`t understand why some people feel so upset only because other still play it and , still, have fun.

I feel you. Strikes can be very predictable and boring. Raid teams can be frustrating. Try doing the story playlist solo. I've really been enjoying that, since I only played through the story missions a few times each. Literally forgot how some of these went so it was a nice change up and they're at 380 now with modifiers. If you did the story missions a lot, too, then never mind. Can also try to run Challenge of Elders, team or solo. That's also been fun for me and I've got a few awesome weapons from Variks. Only need a single 30k run to get a weapon from him.

Just keep looking not all are bad, I needed to kill the gorgons for the record book Found a post said they needed dark drinker, everyone had it but me, I only got tbe raze and bolt. But I ran matador with celestial nighthawk. A few attempts we came so close on the 11 or 12 one I forgot how many. Last one some rushed, one guy was not using the darkdrinker special attack and was pushing it away 😒 One had enough and went to do trails, others had been at it for a while and had to stop. 2 or 3 left we found new people, a bubble Titan wasn't 400, only had the young wolf's howl sword but he ran shotgun. We killed them all finally and finished the raid except I got the same stuff as last time 😧

For one thing, games that I found to be garbage, I didn't play at all. Games are supposed to be fun. Why play any game, if you are doing it to carry your weapons and gear over to the new game? No game I have ever saw has done this. I play games because I like them. I don't play games I don't like. Why would anyone play any game for any other reason?
