*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
After the reveal stream there was a bit of confusion about the amount of content being added to Destiny 2. Some people legitimately believe there will be 1 strike or 2 new patrols. On the note of crucible, I found that there will be about 4 new game modes.
In Destiny there are currently 11 core game modes: Clash, Control, Supremacy, Rift, Salvage, Skirmish, Elimination, Combined Arms, Rumble, Elimination, and Doubles. This excludes variants like Mayhem or Inferno.
Now that Bungie has confirmed that there will be only 4v4 game modes in PvP, we can drop Rumble, Salvage, Skirmish, Doubles, and Elimination due to them involving less players.
At Gamestop, for Destiny 2 it says there will be 12 game modes. Here's a link if you don't believe me..
That leaves us with 6 core game modes that I expect will return. I could be wrong, and something like Elimination could come back just as 4v4, and they also could be including Inferno and Mayhem, so conservatively we will be getting 3 new game modes, liberally we will be getting 6. Take this as you may.
Bungie has proven they probably won't bring back those I said they will exclude, as the new game mode announced, Countdown, is basically Salvage 2.0. Of course other than the 12 game modes present in Destiny 2, the rest is speculation so take it with a grain of salt.
