Strength of the Pack S3 Ch. 14: Reunited (Wolf Pack)

The first rays of morning's light shown brightly through the apartment windows. Dakota, barely rested, was already washed up. He threw his coat over his shoulders and latched the belt buckle. Gold pauldrons, shaped like knights' helmets, materialized on his shoulders. The warlock wiped his Bindcaster helmet, giving it a brilliant shine, then slid it over his head. In the next apartment, Blake checked the sights on his sidearm. He aimed at a glass in the room and tried to steady his hands. Next, he willed on his bulky armor. The titan shifted his gauntlets around his arm, then place the Glasshouse on. Blake hooked his sidearm into his lower back, then he hooked his scout rifle and Dark-drinker on. The titan walked to the door. Kourtney tied up her hair so her helmet could fit. She clipped her cloak onto her armor and looked in the mirror. She slowly reached for the hood of her snow white cloak, Strength of the Pack, then pulled it over her Chatterwhite armor. Kourtney took her newly branded Iron Sword, Young Wolf's Howl, and threw the sheath strap over her shoulder. The Wolf Pack all met in the Hall of Guardians. "Have there been any more reports of the SIVA Guardian?" Dakota asked. "Not since the attack from yesterday. However, SIVA is being spotted around the area," Commander Zavala said as he slid reports of SIVA webs forming in and around the streets. "Well, we will keep our eyes out for him," Dakota said. Wolf Pack turned out of the Vanguard hall. The team walked through the city and looked around. People of all species and of all races were parading around. Peddlers were selling various fruits and vegetables. It was so peaceful. Did no one know that there was a rogue Guardian on the loose, or did they not believe the rumors were true? Dakota stopped a woman and a child on the road. "Ma'am, have you seen a hunter recently? Covered in wires?" He asked, careful not to mention SIVA. "No, no I haven't. Is it an exo?" She replied. Dakota glanced at Blake, then back to the woman. "Yes, his programs were damaged and we believe he is running around down here," "I'm sorry, I haven't seen him. I'll let you know if I do..." The woman glanced at the armor and weapons carried by the Guardians. "... my Lords." "Thank you. Stay safe, ma'am..." The Wolf Pack moved on. "Where do we even begin to look?" Kourtney asked. "We've already begun. Now, we just have to find him," Dakota answered. The Wolf Pack had found themselves in a food court. Booths and small kitchens were set around, and lines stretching and blending filled the block. "Why do you think he would be here?" Kourtney asked. "If you want to get people's attention, attack a densely populated area. And where's more populated than a food court in the morning?" Blake replied as he scanned the crowd. There was not a single sign of SIVA. Anywhere. "Hey!" A woman yelled. "Don't hit my child like-- Is that... SIVA?... He's here!! He's here!! The rogue Guardian is here!!" Cried the woman. Without hesitation, Wolf Pack broke into a sprint. "Are we taking him alive?" The huntress asked. "We are not taking him alive! One less minion the Technomancer has, the easier it will be to defeat her!" Dakota yelled as he locked a magazine into his auto rifle. Blake and Kourtney loaded their weapons too. Dakota, and the other two Guardians, stopped around the corner. The sound of gunfire and armor hitting armor bounced off the walls of the street-side buildings. The rogue was not going down without a fight. The three Guardians ran around the building, guns aimed high, but became petrified. Dakota's muscles froze: he couldn't do a thing. Finally, he was capable of lowering his Red Spectre. Blake lowered his scout rifle, and Kourtney dropped her pulse rifle to the ground. "Alan?..." The huntress muttered, she was now gawking. The hunter with SIVA built arms looked up from the chaos he created, and stared at the team. There was emotion in his blue eyes: guilt, sorrow, regret. The Guardian backed away, then broke into a full on sprint down the road. Blake and Dakota ran to help the various titans laying on the ground. "What... are you doing?! You let him... get away!" The titaness captain yelled at Dakota after tightly gripping his coat. Dakota didn't say anything back, but he helped the Guardian off the ground. "He just kicked all of your a**es, I doubt we could've done any better..." Blake said, trying to weave together an excuse. He looked up at the huntress, who was still standing like a statue. "Kourtney?" He asked. The single word broke Kourtney's trance into distant space. She collapsed onto her knees, then began crying into her hands. Monica transmatted a blanket onto her Guardian, then glanced at Blake and Dakota. How could Alan be the rogue Guardian, killing people in the City? No, there was an answer to that question.
