AMD announces new high-end CPU with more cores, more bandwidth

The New SKU Family is called the [google]AMD Threadripper[/google]. it will have more cores and threads than the recently released AMD 1800x CPU. this is to take on Intel's higher end X99/X299 high-end enthusiast/ low-end server platform. more information about this will be released around Computex, an annual tech industry show similar to E3, in about a week.
you probably don't care, right? cheaper high-end computing is going to become a thing very soon.
Yawn. My 2012 MacBook Pro still outperforms most of your trashy, ugly computers in my mind anyways. Design is better than specs. Realistically, I do have to work with simulations a lot for school, and I was actually surprised at how well my MacBook preformed given some of the more computationally heavy operations I gave it. It use to struggle with Skyrim a lot. That being said, anything that would be actually useful for real research in my field is going to be with a super computer, so until we have a fully functional mass produced quantum computer, I'm sticking with my Mac.
