The Islamic Republic of Iran is modeled on Plato's work [i]Politeia[/i], and is in fact the ideal form of government.
Seriously, you can transplant the model into almost any fairly religious society and it will probably work out great.
That's not to say it's perfect, but it is a pretty awesome political structure that is allowing Iran to slowly crawl back into relevance even in the face of economic pressure from all of the imperialist powers, Israeli espionage/sabotage, and constant sociopolitical and ideological pressure from her Sunni neighbors.
