*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
So before I begin I just want to say, spoiler warning. A majority of this post is either going over what happened in Destiny 1 or speculation. However there will be some material considered spoilers. However, if you have been keeping up with Destiny 2, nothing I state should really come as a surprise. I just wanted to get it out there. Consider yourself warned
Before Destiny
I'm sure you all know this so I'll keep it short and sweet. The guys at Clovis Bray during the golden age cooked up a nanotechnology they called "SIVA" to aid in their Exodus Program to colonize the stars. SIVA is a nanomite that doesn't require an external power source and will complete a task that it is given until completed. It was sent in at least one ship to the outer regions of the system but it resided mostly on Earth, where the replication chamber was built deep under the cosmodrome.
Destiny 1
You all know this too but the Iron Lords found out about SIVA, tracked it down, and things didn't go as planned. Later the Fallen find it, graft it to their bodies, and eventually we destroy the replication chamber once and for all. We then proceed to thin the herd of SIVA remaining by slaughtering any Splicers we see. During Age of Triumph, all Fallen flee the system, including the splicers.
Destiny 2
We do know indeed that SIVA and the splicers are in Destiny 2. During the reveal stream, a screenshot shows a strike description about the Splicers on Nessus making a grab for a ship we now know as Exodus Black. Past that Bungie has not said a word about it.
How can the Splicers still be around? There are plenty of ways that the Splicers and SIVA could still be around. Firstly it is possible there were more than one replication chamber. I mean talk about putting all of your eggs in one basket. There also could have been a large store of SIVA. Perhaps the Exodus black is that ship with the SIVA cargo on it. Third is possibly the simplest answer, we didn't kill them all. SIVA still exists we just halted production. Kind of like the Taken during the Taken Spring, they still exist, there just can't be any more.
A Divide
This is where the speculation kicks into overdrive. So to start, when SIVA was first found it split the House of Devils politically between the Splicers who tried to make themselves into gods using SIVA, and the conservatives who believed this was blasphemy and the only true god was the Traveler. This conflict was shown in Sepiks Perfected, a play on the Splicer's part to control the flow of Ether to the conservatives and force them out of power. In Destiny 2 we see a single house, the House of Purple (as I will call it for convenience sake since we don't know its name). This house could see some rivalries between the Splicers and the conservatives. If the Splicers don't outright leave this house, they may continue their struggle for political dominance within the house. Be keen for this.
Evolution
I will not lie, when RoI came out I was a little disappointed in our new enemies. They were bioengineered, Bungie could do anything they wanted, and all the Splicers were was Fallen with slightly different UI and different elemental bullets. Along with a few minor changes to gameplay and an awesome new paint job, the Splicers were really just glorified Fallen. In Destiny 2 that could change. The Splicers have had time to hone their craft and force their own evolution. This would be the perfect excuse to add some crazy mechanics to the Splicers. Imagine Splicer Dregs hanging from the ceiling with their peg legs or Splicer Captains releasing a cloud of SIVA mites that suppress a Guardian's powers for a short time. With the forced evolution, the world is your limit Bungie. I simply hope Bungie does something to further distinguish the Splicers from normal Fallen through Gameplay. I love the Splicers, but they can be better.
Edit: I made an entirely different post discussing this further. Give it a read if you want.
A Well Kept Secret
My final note is that I hope Bungie keeps hush hush about the Splicers in Destiny 2 other than a few hints for us detected fans. Imagine if you have never played Destiny before and you are trying Destiny 2. You know what to expect and you are playing the story, doing whatever to stop Ghaul, when suddenly you come across a building surrounded by black and red tendrils. You honestly have no clue what this is and you go inside. There are bodies on the floor of dead Cabal and this weird Tetrahedral pattern everywhere is eating away at their bodies. You continue further into a dark room and holy shit what are those on the ceiling?! If done right, a Splicer reveal on the level of the Flood in Halo Combat Evolved could make any Destiny fan jump with joy and any newcomer crap their pants in a well of emotion. Plus nothing helps reviews like the surprise of an additional enemy race. I do hope Bungie stays quiet on part of the Splicers.
I love the Splicers and am glad they are coming back. My wish is that they are better than ever and will be a secret kept closely to inject some mystery into the story of Destiny 2.

(Approaches dead cabal in creepy dark room) (Cutscene starts)Ghost: Hey these red legion have a camera attached to their helmets, I can pull out the video and find who killed them. (Ghost scans helmet) (video plays) cabal walk into the room Siva attacks a cabal then the splicers attack. (Cabal noises/screaming) (video ends)
-
Shouldn't Siva be able to create their own replication chamber?
-
I was totally expecting Luke Smith to say, "SIVA is done. We effectively wrapped up that arc.....we exited it effectively."
-
Bump because I added some new stuff
-
Well done my man seriously. I love SIVA too the idea of it is endless and the potential is incredible. I think it would be cool to see a different planet that has been completely overtaken by SIVA. Basically what would have happened to Earth had we not handed the L to Aksis.

Edited by megatron pants: 6/17/2017 11:27:20 PMNot sure if this is totally relevant, but when we destroy the SIVA replication chamber everyone says that we stopped the flow of SIVA, but the splicers still have their SIVA. And SIVA replicates on its own, doesn't it? Because if it does then it wouldn't matter if we destroyed the replication chamber because the SIVA would just keep replecating. I'm getting the thought that SIVA can replicate on its own because of the description of most SIVA-fied weapons and armor, they say "consume enhance replicate~"
-
If I noticed correctly the SIVA charged the Guardians light beyond their limits. Essentially saying we can get our light from SIVA and not the Traveler? Just a speculation.
-
You're a brilliant writer! Then again I suppose it's easy for me to get hyped over Destiny.
-
I didn't even see them in any trailers. I saw the taken in the PS exclusive strike.
have fun with that one everyone on PlayStation. I can wait a year for that.
-
I only want to see them hiding away in a lost sector on some planet, and maybe as a single strike, it would be cool to see them again, but not as a real threat, more as just an issue, but not truly dangerous.
-
This was beautifully written
im serious its just 👌
Man i just want to see some house of kings action. They're literally the strongest fallen house. They still have their: Archon Archon priest Kell Prime Servitor Pretty much every captain and baron Pretty much all the rest of their forces as well And they also control the huse of devils through puppet leaders. They're a huge threat and have been lying low this whole time, we know that because of petra. Bungie has a huge opportunity with a powerhouse enemy we know exists and we know is strong but outside of a few remarks by Petra and some grimriore cards they arent doing anything.
-
Going further into bungie keeping quiet about the splicers, they should just keep quiet about everything from here on out. Let the beta and the actual game show ya what's going on instead of bungie outright telling us. That way, there's still surprises and things for the players to explore and discover
-
Shiro once said that destroying the replication chamber won't rid of the SIVA the splicers already have.
-
Awesome work as a always gringo!
-
I hope they ONLY appear in theat strike and NOWHERE else..... #TRASHSHOULDBEINTHEBIN
-
There is still an entire faction of splicers that we haven't dealt with.
-
I didn't want The Taken or SIVA to return. But they are... fu*k.... wow..
-
Can anybody find the really nice not cutoff pics bungie showed of the new planets? (I swear there was those grey siva diamonds in the corner of one of them)
-
They're called The Corrupted House of Fallen.
-
Your picture looks like a facepalm. Lol

-
Bump gringo good stuff. I do feel the same about the splicers, in comparison to the flood in Halo that whole thing was just crazy, but crazy in a good way
-
Yaaaaas I LOOOOVE splicers and I think that would be awesome !! And it would tie in nicely for the Rasputin dlc since he had control over SIVA for a bit , or even if they just brought them back that would be awesome ( I think they are tbh since they brought back the taken ) but Im with you in the SIVA being introduced like the flood
-
Good post gringo. Really covers everything.

Good post, Gringo.
