*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
Hello all, I'm just here to voice a little question I'm surprised nobody has asked, why were machine guns removed from Destiny 2?
We do know that Machine Guns are not in Destiny 2, with many sources citing this, namely Game Informer. I am not angry or something like that, just a bit perplexed as to why Bungie would remove a weapon type that has been far from troublesome. The best reason that I could see is that Bungie has stated that the new "Heavy" slot, now called Power Weapons, are for One Hit Kill weapons and Machine Guns are certainly not in that category. This still leaves the question of why not move it to the kinetic/energy slot? Obviously they would need to be adjusted in these slots heavily to make them on the same level as a pulse rifle or Auto Rifle. Still it seems like moving and balancing it would be optimal to all out removing it if it was simply because it did not fit into the power slot.
Anyone have any other suggestions as to why perhaps this weapon type was removed?

When you desing a game, you think about all these weapon balances and their game mechanics in the start of the game. After that you make some rough pre alpha prototypes and test if they will work properly. If not, they are removed before nobody sees them, and if they work they will get the normal animations and graphics etc. You simply dont just make a fully animated, graphics and sounds ready weapon type in lets say month before the first trailer, and then realise that its difficult to be balanced. If they truly removed it for this reason, then they had some serious issues in the early/mid development phase.
