Evening of "The Outpost Incident"
"Recruit Pilot Cylus has come along way since the beginning of his training. He provided us with a new technological energy that will last for generations! His training and past has prepped him to be one of our most experienced pilots, and so, I wish to grant him the name of Pilot." Marker's voice said around a table of high ranking Militia operatives.
This included Colonel Jack Cooper and General Ryan Summers, both of the ninth fleet.
The two looked at Marker, along with various other heads of the ninth fleet and nodded.
"Alright. It'll happen."
Their holograms disappeared and Marker took a sigh of relief, gathering up the 6-4, the squadron of Sargeant Aidan and survivors of Outpost 099
Overall, around 20 troops were gathered in the center of the cold northern bases of the Militia and Alliance, with Marker awaiting Cylus.

"That was one hell of an inauguration." Cylus says with a chuckle. "Thank you for this." He nods to Marker and then turns to those gathered around him. "Despite what's happened today, we've been able to come together not only to mourn the fallen, but to celebrate those who survived. We find strength in each other. Remember that." he says to all that would hear it
-
Various troops came to greet Cylus, shaking hands with him and wishing him luck in his endeavors, etc, etc. After the crowd had mostly dispersed Marker took a seat on a bench that was up against a building, motioning for Cylus to sit besides him
-
Cylus sat back and stretched his arms, glad to be off his feet. "Hell of a day." he sighs
-
"Started with a outpost destroyed. Ended with your official announcement as Pilot. Yeah. Hell of a day
-
"So what's next?" Cylus asks, watching the people come and go.
-
"You'll be assigned to a fleet. Unless you want to pick of course." Marker said, glancing at Cylus
-
"Well, what would I be without my day one?" Cylus says with a grin. "9 is a lucky number."
-
"You think so?" Marker asked, chuckling lightly. "We're more than just brothers in Arms now Cylus. We're brothers. So. I thought I should do something." Marker looked away, glancing at the people that passed
-
"Oh? And what's that?" Cylus asks
-
"I know you were asking about why i never take off my helmet. Well, here's a picture of me from about two months ago." Marker reached into his pocket and drew a picture, passing it to Cylus https://imgur.com/AZue3JO The picture was burned and cut around the sides, with most of the actual image clearly missing
-
Cylus gently accepted the photo and closely inspected it. He retracted his helmet and immediately looked at Marker. "Wh- I'm sorry. What happened?" he asks solemnly
-
"Years of War leaves you scarred. I've lost count of home many I have. Used to be I could take a shot for every scar. Now for every scar... Just another Dead soul plaguing my memory."
-
"Damn. I'm at a loss for words." Cylus says. He lowers his head. "I reckon I might relate. Since I've died, I haven't been able to scar... I haven't been able to do much of anything except fight and remember those that I've damned. The faces are burned into your memory." he sighs. "Like I said before, it's hard not to lose yourself in it." he says, drifting off in thought.
-
"No. It's not hard to face the dead. What's hard is telling yourself you're doing it for good reason." Marker said, sighing his head as he leaned back into the chair, looking upwards
-
"You're right." he says with a sigh. "The preservation of life, so often the justification for taking it."
-
"The world... The world so screwed. Full of kings and queens that Blind your eyes and steal your dreams..."
-
"Who said that one?" he asks
-
"Black Sabbath. They were a band back on earth in my timeline."
-
"Ah, we had that too. I wasn't too big on 'em, but they sure were big." Cylus says. "Some things are just universal I guess."
-
"You mean, multiversal." Marker chuckled lightly, reaching to take the picture back from Cylus
-
Cylus hands it over and leans back with Marker. "Correct again." he says with a breath. "We can get that gear you mentioned later. Now, let's just relax." He opens his jacket and pulls a triangular candy bar from a concealed pocket. "You have Toblerone on your earth?" he asks as he opens it and takes a piece
-
"Yeah... Yeah we did." The snow gently started falling onto the ground around them...
The End! You're free to do as you please for the next week or two until the plot kicks off
