On a warm summer afternoon, as the sun slowly faded behind the neighboring planet, ships sailed on the open waters of an alien world. The ships were not metal or technologically advanced, but they were beautifully crafted by hand and gracefully and quietly passed by the harbor's and cliff faces.
White birds flew by, singing a song in sweet harmony as the sound of a little girl giggling echoed across the land. The little girl ran as fast as she could with bare feet across the rocky and muddy shore until she reached something special. In front of her was a large metal circle several meters in diameter with strange etchings all around it. She had no idea what it was, but she felt something draw her to it. The girl knew she should get back, run away. All her life she had been taught to stay away from anything that could be remotely dangerous and to stay safely by her parent's side, but....Here she was, far away from home with a mystical platform that floated a foot away from land on top of the water just in front of her....
....She took a step...
...then another.....
Soon she had walked into the center of the circle. Strangely the floating metal platform hadn't moved at all when she put her weight on it for it was somehow perfectly stable. The girl had a feeling of adventure and awe go through her as she spun around on the strange object, wondering what mysterious hide and what would come next...however....Nothing happened.
...She waited...
...and waited....
Eventually her hope that something would happen died and she sighed, losing the feeling of wonder. She glanced back up the mountain she had climbed down, up where her family had lived for centuries....
...Home...
...safe....
...comforting...
...easy...
The girl longed to go back home, but when she took a step away from the center it just didn't feel right. She didn't really want to go home. Her home is boring, dull, unexciting, and she'd end up like her family and everyone else that has ever lived on the godforsaken island...an adult. The girl didn't want to be like them. She wanted to have fun, to feel free, to see what lies out there...in the wide open world around her.
She looked up at the planet that the sun set behind, the light reflecting off the atmosphere, creating a splendid show of color. Her eyes widened and her lips formed a large smile.
"Home..."
The girl instinctively said in a mumble, turning back away from the mountain her ancestors had always called their own. A fire seemed to start up in the little green eyes of hers as they stared up at the great wonder that is the universe...her mind taking it all in...
...how small we are...
...how little meaning we have...
...and how extremely humbling that truly is.
The little girl slowly got down on her knees and closed her eyes, taking deep breathes like her father had shown her before his passing. Her hands rested on her thighs as she stared back down at the ground.
"Ujjack flandojjin auy..."
She mumbled quietly like she was making sure no one would hear her out of fear of them catching her. After a few more words of an unknown language the girl looked up and looked around again, but when nothing happened she simply took another deep breath as to not get disappointed again.
An hour passed and she still remained on the platform, almost perfectly still when the platform began to vibrate beneath her before suddenly coming to a halt. A loud and deep whisper rang out from the sky like that of some giant titan.
"Ujjack...hokkin yagh..."
The girl arched her back as if something stabbed through her from behind before lurching forward onto her hands and knees. She gasped for breath as she looked back up, the world spinning around her while her vision slowly faded to black.
