Chapter Forty One

The massive four legged machine began its ascent up the steep slope of the Coldbourne's mountain. It had four massive steel made legs that attached to a massive steel body that was rounded in shape. In front of the machine was a giant drill that was almost the size of a building in its scale. It was pointed up as the machine climbed vertically upwards the mountain. At the top of the machine there was a rim of glass that allowed its occupants to look outside, but that being said, all of them were tightly strapped in.
Zane, Lyn and Falk all sat at the front of the machine, looking upwards and feeling the force of their altitude grow on them. The other miners were positioned around, typing in control boards and ensuring that the machine would continue to make its way up.

Lyn unfastened herself and stretched as much as she could in the confined space. "Time to rain down some justice...and hopefully not give in to simply wanting revenge."
-
"I'm seeing two very different ideals right now..." Falk commented under his breath. The front of the massive machine opened, and he drew his blade as he stepped out into the hall. "That being said, this bastard killed my daughter. So in that sense, Justice is revenge. Hope you understand that Lyndis."

Edited by Stitch: 7/25/2017 2:00:03 AM"I do. Every life I take is for the greater good and avenging Henry is a part of that greater good." Lyn walked out beside him, a simple buckler on her left arm to protect her from any surprises.
-
The group walked to the end, and as they did they saw the massive ice cavern. It was large, and seemed natural in its formation. There was an edge to the groups right which went up the icy slippery slope that was illuminated blue by the mining machines bright light. The group could not see the bottom of the cavern....
-
"Huh, what do you think formed this place? Pretty interesting if you ask me."
-
"Not sure." Falk commented as he began to edge his way across the thin walkway around the cavern. "Geology wasn't my strong suit..."
-
Lyn followed closely. "I don't know either. Magic? Gnomes? Giant worms?" She joked, laughing a little.
-
"I swear to god, If a giant worm is what kills us here, I'm going to be pissed." Falk joked along with Lyn as he continued to edge his way across the ledge with Zane behind him and Lyn behind Zane. As Zane looked down however, he realized that he couldn't see the bottom of the massive cavern...
-
"Huh, can't see the bottom....Make sure not to trip, looks like a long fall down into what can only be spikes."
-
"That's a conclusion and a half." Falk said. "That being said, Spikes seem logical. Very logical." But, as if fate had it out for them, the floor beneath Lyn suddenly let out a Ctch! sound. As she looked underneath her feet, she saw that the edge beneath her had cracked and fractured....
-
Lyn sighed and rolled her shoulder, cracking it. The buckler on her one arm vanished and two ice axes formed, one in each hand. "Looks like I'll find out. Don't wait up!" She purposely stepped off before spinning around and jamming her axes into the rock so she wouldn't fall all the way at a ludicrous speed.
-
That being said, she found her axes slipping and sliding almost immediately. And with that, she fell into the darkness of the pit below...
end of chapter for Cthulu
"What the-LYN!" Falk yelled after her as he looked down into the dark.
-
"God damn it! Why wasn't she more careful?!"
-
"I don't know! God...agh!" Falk let out. "She'll...she'll be fine! The girl knows her stuff...she'll figure it out!"
-
"Shouldn't we radio for a team to climb down and try to help her? That was a long fall, she could be injured or worse...."
-
"Right...smart thinking." Falk said as he raised his hand to his ear. "Mining crew! Lyn fell down the cavern! Do you know what I'm talking about?!" "Ya, the massive drop you would have come across when we entered. We'll pick her up, don't worry. Focus on getting those defences down." Falk nodded as he looked to Zane. "They'll take care of her. But we got to get these defences down now!"
-
"Let's go then, time is running out. Lead the way and il follow."
-
Falk nodded as he went across the edge of the cavern and stepped into an ongoing cave on the other side. Zane made it shortly after and the two ventured down the ice blue halls of the mountain tunnels. They eventually came across what seemed to be a dead end, however. There was no way anywhere to be found. The ice seemed more light and reflected something the men couldn't see.
-
"I sense a hidden wall....Want to to start breaking shit to find it?"
-
Falk slowly blinked. Then turned to Zane. "Yes. Yes I do. This is a great idea." Falk told him genuinely as he drew his pistols from his cloak and began to open fire on the wall in front of him.
-
He formed his gauntlets and dashed up to the wall, bashing it with several heavy strikes.
-
After that, the wall completely shattered in front of the two of them. This revealed a massive cavern in front of them, and the way to go.
-
"Well, that was easy. Shall we be off?"
-
"We shall." Falk said as the two walked ahead past the shattered ice. The room ahead of them was tall and massive. Around them seemed to be a wider slope of stone that curved up the walls to the top. Said stone was covered in ice, so the two would have to watch their footing. "So, I feel like I'm about to jinx this but, I think this is working." Falk told Zane. "We've only had to deal with environmental hazards so far...so it's possible Tywin does not know we're here. Or even planned for us to get here."
-
"Eh I'd still keep your guard up, never know what could be lurking down here."
