Thats almost every tutorial. Youtubes policies are pushing this. They want view time., and ads clicked. The view count is just a memory. Guitar has 100+ years of learning media. So other things are available readily. There tons of magazines, videos, and books. If you had to learn swift code for apple, game development tutorials, or 3d modelling than you would be screwed into basically only youtube.

Yeah, you got a point. I have a whole box full of old 'How to play like' videos and stuff like that I can call upon for the real secrets. mind you I watched a guy nail the Simple Man guitar solo just the other day. Way less views than anyone else, and they all played it wrong lol

For the last 10 years I haven't seen anything in the guitar world that has been impressive except Luca Stricagnoli. Everything has just been. meh. I havent looked forward to an album like SRV, Satriani, or Malmsteen coming out. Because most stuff isn't really great. It's a ton of covers. A lot of new guitarists seem to simply be robots playing.

Very manufactured sound. It's the result of those How To videos lol. When I'm teaching youngsters I tell them to completely avoid Vai, Maum, and Sat until they develop their own sound. Then they can listen to those guys, who like you said, sound like guitar machines, which isn't a good thing

There's a reason GNR just did $151 million in concert revenue.People still want to rock. There's also a reason rock stations on the radio don't have much new stuff to play. I hear late 60's to 90's rock with occasianal godsmack. lincoln park. Which tells me that either kids cant play, or cant play there own stuff. That's just rock though. I've seen a girl named Tina s who is a brilliant guitarist at playing everyone elses music. She looks about as entertaining as a window store mannequin doing it though. Un watchable.

Yeah you either get one or the other. Then you get popstars like Dave Grohl who thinks he's legit Rock music lol

Alternative, and grunge have become rock due to all the soft pop rock coming out. As of right now. Dave grohl doesnt have much younger, or better competition. Foo fighters get sold out on every corner. Promoters are begging any rock bands to get back together. He's an incredible drummer. His old stuff was insane. His guitar is just good. He isnt ginger baker, but hes had a legendary 30 years.
