So I've read all the reviews and opinions on the D2 Beta so far; I've spotted an interesting trend in the opinions from the ones that are saying it's great and are loving it.
All of these Bungie defenders have sub 5000 Grimoire, No "From the beginning" node unlocked on Y3 MoT and have 1000 Hours or less gameplay time.
You will say Grimoire doesn't mean shit, but it's an uncanny trend that I've spotted.
Any D1 Alpha/Beta Vets with 5500+ Grimoire and 3000 Hours logged have anything good to say about this D2 Beta?
I'm curious...

4000+ hours and 5570 grim on xbox. I think for the most part that the pvp and game in general is great. Only problems i find is that the time to kill is a little to long. 1v2s are hard to win. Its like they wanna make team shoting more inportant. Which would work in the competitive mode with proper team work etc but solo search in the quickplay...it just doesnt feel right. Im glad the abilities are on a longer cool down. Only other issue i have is why the hunter doesnt have a team based ability... titan gets the wall and warlock gets the rift. Both great for team play but then theres the hunter with his dodge lol. But yeah enjoying it so far just hope the tweak the time to kill

Ah, yes, me here. I wasn't in D1 Beta but I have been here almost since the beginning, got something like 5505 Grimoire, don't know about hours, since I deleted my main really recently, and I love the Beta.

I don't have 3000 hours on destiny but I do have near max grimoire, over 1000 hours, played since the beta of destiny, and all I can say about D2 is http://imgur.com/gallery/26k9Td7

Story mission already better than anything in D1 Places are HUGE. Even just the starting area of the strike has some cool stuff to explore In my opinion, the supers are fun but more "sci-if" than Destiny 1, meaning you have more powers and abilities, not just a super, a grenade, and a melee. Guns are interesting, it almost looks like you can change the damage type of energy weapons in the full game. Mods sound interesting and lots of things can get shaders. Enemies deal more damage so teamwork is a bigger focus in PvE Huge play spaces means future strikes/ story missions have the potential for EPIC battles During the story mission, when you're fighting by Zavala's side, other players are matchmade into your mission almost seamlessly. It was really cool just fighting back to back with Zavala and then all of a sudden two more guardians show up

3000 hours played 4950 grimoire it dont mean shit so i didnt bother getting higher plus i get my lore off youtube so i see no point getting it higher ur argument is pretty weak do u want destiny 1 crucible???

The PVP formula is solid. Gunplay and skill is back upfront. TTK are low enough that it's possible to disengage and seek a more advantageous situation, but high enough that team shooting has a notable impact. Bungie had always gotten gunplay and sound down better than anyone. It was a shame it took a backseat to the pretty lights of supers and powers in D1. I hope this values set up remains through launch.

Been done before.....boring.

Haven't played yet. I'm on Xbox. I have hope. I'm from the dark below and have close to 5000 grimore

4000 hours, can't be bothered to care for a grimoire but I've played since beta back in destiny one. I am looking forward to playing the beta tomorrow for xbox, I'll update my findings for you OP. I can't lie that I'm obsessed with the thought of a lance-based subclass so I may be biased in your research.

I thought it was pretty good. Not flawless, not how I would have handled things, but I enjoyed my time today on the beta. I have plenty of grimoire, and time in the game.
-
I've got max grimoire and around 2k hours over all my characters (33 total). I'm loving the beta so far. My only complaint is the slow ttk. Other than that, I like it a lot.

Day one player here. I play on Xbox one but played the beta today on ps4. I personally don't care for a lot of the changes made in crucible. The gameplay is much slower, if your a decent player you can expect to get maybe a super a match... One super a match makes the game much less interesting. Making the game 4v4 makes you have to break up your group of friends (not cool). After an hour or so I really didn't want to play the beta anymore. Some of the changes to abilities were unnecessary. To get supers in PVE was mind numbing. Ammo was tough to come by in terms of power weapons.

I've played destiny 1 since the beta. I think destiny 2 has a lot going for it. The beta is content scarce, but the destiny 1 beta was literally a 1/4 of the game. Gun play feels tighter than ever, and I like the changes to the crucible. It could use some tweaks before launch like a match length increase in pvp, and slight cooldown time decreases and ammo drops in pve. PvE needs a lot more heavy ammo. The primaries feel much more balanced than D1.

As far as stats got you covered my man, and far as beta testing. I love it.. wish I had a little more to do but it's a beta. Honestly I love the changed to PvP but feel clunky on all classes, wish I could have animation invincibility but it's a beta and they Should work on that. Weapons seem pretty tuned. Everyone looking for that .07 ttk is making me laugh. It's more about skill now than weapons perks. I love it and honestly glad I'm involved. Can't wait to play the new game.

I'll let you know when I play it.
-
Not falling for it. 🙄
-
Pvp? Glad of changes, time for skilled gunbattles. Pve? Atrociously bad.
-
Over 2300 hours 😎

Im a D1 beta vet with 5000+ grimoire and have at least 1200 hours clocked. I love the beta and i cant even play it yet...
-
My grimoire is like 4600. I have over 1800 hrs playtime and I love the beta
-
The beta drops today:'D. I'll tell ya as soon as possible when I played the beta.
-
Grimoire doesn't mean anything. Actually glad they took it out.

Edited by bnetflustercluck: 7/19/2017 6:49:19 AMBeta player. Day 1 too. Max Grimoire. Over 6,500 hours played. After feeling somewhat apprehensive about the changes to PVP, I will say after a few matches my opinion changed for the good. Not to say there haven't been a few moments where I have cursed the demo/beta, but those were mostly down to either being matched in a team of random headless chickens against a stacked team of 3 or 4, or a glitch or two here and there - putting 5 Nightshade bursts into a hunter with little damage being taken only for them to find cover and 2 tap me through a column - definitely some latency issues. Other than that I enjoyed my 5 matches, consistently scoring between 1.5-5.0 on the Efficiency rating. I haven't really played enough yet to form a full opinion to the weapon changes, although I do quite like what they've done with armour stats, looking forward to putting a bit more time in. The Homecoming mission was cool. I was pleasantly impressed with the visuals and the majority of gunfights with the Red Lezzers. Seeing Shaxx open the door for me was probably my favourite bit though, something poetic about that. The Inverted Spire was my kind of strike tbh, although there felt like a bit too much space between good busy battles. A few experiences of teleporting enemies, particularly those Psions. Overall it was fun for me, probably could do with quicker super charge for the main game PVE though. I did feel like busy gunfights felt a tad clumsy now and then in both PVE and PVP, but I'm going to put that down to our available weapons being the equivalent of greens and blues in D1 and therefore aren't quite the legendary calibre regarding stats and perks just yet as we are only playing the Beta as level 20 guardians. It did however feel in PVP that some weapons were ripping me to shreds with lightning quick ttk's yet others felt like you/they could tank multiple clips and survive. The Beta meta is here already, dun dun DUN!!! Haha As for the revamped UI, I like the appearance but the roster being in a separate menu is a bit daft. Hopefully they re-jig that by September because it wasn't broken and certainly did not require "fixing"! So, from being super sceptical, I am now feeling a bit better about D2. Just hoping that there is so much more than D1 regarding content and variety of. 7/10 thus far.

I like the way they did energy weapons for shields and primaries for no shielded enemies. I also agree with the lower movement speed. Altogether it looks promising.
-
Why does grimoire and time played matter? "If someone who has played a lot of the first game doesn't like it, then it must suck." How does that make sense at all?

Just done the first mission and strike with Titan sentinal. I really don't like the new weapon setup. Tried all the default weapons I received aswell as the exotic auto rifle, but found I soon went to what I think will be default selection of scout / handcannon. I liked the inclusion Of The third ability (shield) but the super seems to take a long time to generate and didn't seem to generate lots of orbs. Also the flying shield attack can only be activated once and seems quite weak (wouldn't 1 hit kill Harpys on strike mission.) so far the game doesn't feel like a new game but an expansion which I guess is OK but the pve better be bloody good in the final release. I liked the layout Of The strike and the inclusion of more environmental obstacles is nice, although the way the weapon set up is the strike boss felt even more spongier than d1 bosses. I hope we can unlock weapons in the full game that feel op to use in pve but I feel the way d2 seems to be directed more to pvp that we won't get that ghorn / original vex feeling back.
