Sometimes it's a psychological crutch. Similar to meta weapons, of which this game has had too many.

Except they won and have moved onto their next match. There's no tactical advantage. They're just putting the boot in because they have more time to play the game than me.

I mean that it's just so very important to them, critical to their play experience to savor every little kill because it means so much to them. Similar to meta weapons. So life critical. This is why I stopped a long time ago. Other games have so much more balance and less of....this.

Destiny is the only pvp game I enjoy, unfortunately.

"Twas the same for me for a long time. However, it was my firs ps4 game. If you're interested, I enjoy Titanfall, Rainbow Six Siege, and will be getting Battlefront 2. Of my favorite alternatives I think Titanfall may be most similar to Destiny and I think you would enjoy it.

A friend pestered me to try rainbow six. I have it, but have to wait til my bandwidth ticks over to play it.

Ye, me and my friends die over it. Almost literally. Higher ranks are ripe with cheap tactics that wouldn't work in real life, people who got carried and play like a far worse player, and bad matchmaking. But we love it when we win.
