"How do you propose we deal with the dragons?" Ulfric asked. "They look...well they look like they were summoned, not made. If that makes sense."
"It doesn't."
"Well look at them! They're translucent! A powerful spell caster would have had to conjure those up!"

Cannon thought on his words for a moment, then gained an idea. Magic was, essentially, the manipulation of energy fields... So if he could scan a dragon then, theoretically, he could trace it's energy source back to whomever was conjuring it. He attempted to test his idea, scanning the nearest dragon.
-
As he did, he soon realized his hypotheses was correct and his theory proven. He was able to trace the powerful magic back to....the Coldbourne castle.... But. He saw that it was not in the throne room. Rather it came from the back right tower of the massive palace.
-
"Energy signature matching the dragons in the far tower. Let's move!" He ordered.
-
"How do you propose we get up there?" Halt asked Cannon. "The dragons, remember?" "...we use tethers and rope." Ulfric seemed to spit ball.
-
"We have something a bit more advanced than that." Commented a trooper as they approached the tower. "Grapple guns."
-
"Grapple-!" Suddenly more fire power lit up the street the group walked down. The Coldbourne soldiers were in pursuit now. "Can. We gotta get to the cliffside now!" Halt told him.
-
Cannon nodded. "Let's go!" He started moving towards the side of the cliff, prepping his cable gun.
-
The group sprinted towards the cliffside, as they had to take down the source of the dragons. But as they ran, one of the beasts in question began to circle around them...
-
Cannon switched on comms, calling in a fight squadron for air support. A squad of Mando-piloted X-wings broke off to engage the Deagons.
-
The dragon let out a roar as it flew away from the ships, having them follow it away. "Well that could have been a lot worse!" Ulfric exclaimed as they reached the cliff face. "Now what?"
-
"We climb." Cannon aimed his cable launcher and fired, sending a half inch thick durafiber cable upwards. The point imbedded iteslf in the rocks.
-
"You brought some for us, right?" Ulfric asked Can.
-
"You'll each ride with one of us." Cannon informed them as he hooked up to the cable.
-
"We aren't some -blam!-ing stuffed animal you can tie to your back." Halt told Cannon. "Swallow your pride, Halt. We need to do this."
-
"Tie to back? No. Here." Cannon pulled one of the clips off his utility belt. "You'll be providing covering fire in case we get attacked going up."
-
"So...we'll be dangling in the air while you climb...." Ulfric said slowly as he tried to comprehend it.
-
"Nore or less..." Cannon attached a small, boxlike device onto the cable, then clipped his belt to it. "This machine will pull us up faster than we could climb."
-
"Then let's get it over with ya?" Halt said impatiently. Suddenly, bullets cut across the wall in front of the group. Two of the mando's were dropped by the gunfire, leaving the only other two left.
we didn't specify on numbers so we're doing this.
"LIKE RIGHT NOW!"
hook them up or whatever. Don't know how it works
-
Cannon clipped the strap to Ulfric's belt while one of the remaining Mandos did the same to Halt. They clipped in, and the winches in their gear started up, pulling them rapidly upwards.
-
"OH SHIT!" Ulfric let out as he knocked an arrow on his bow string and fired at their attackers, dropping two as he quickly fired and drew another. As the group continued to ascend, the dragons seemed to be nearing their location more. As Cannon looked, he saw one dive bomb through one of his massive ships, making it completely freeze and fall into the distant mountains.
-
Clearly it didn't dive bomb a Dreadnought...
Cannon turned up the crank, pulling them faster. "Osik..."
Translation: poop
-
"Cannon! Watch out!!!" Ulfric yelled. As Cannon looked upon the massive scape of battle, he saw one of the large ice dragons fly towards them. No, it was heading directly at them.
end of chapter
-
hold on. Should have explained. The palace is atop the bridge at the north part of the city. The city is below the bridge in a crevice between the mountains. You won't be able to simply approach the tower.
-
... Then I guess they have some walking to do.
