...does it piss you off when people use words that aren't English? I think it's complete bullshit. I've lost like 7 games in a row to my friend Ani because she uses words from other languages.
Anyone else get their jimmies rustled at this, or just me?

Someone will play a word and I'm like that's not a word so I go to the dictionary and it literally says it's a word in Arabic but it has no definition. I guess it was just a sound Arabic people make then cuz it doesn't mean anything...

That's when you yell "WHAT LANGUAGE IS USED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS?! CAUSE THATS THE ONLY LANGUAGE WE'RE USING!" if that doesn't work flip the table

People still play Words With Friends?
-
Fair game, as long as it is a common word in that language, and it is at least a semi-common language. Languages borrow from each other fairly often, so you could probably be using an old French or Spanish word when you play in English and not even realize it.

Edited by Kirby235711: 8/11/2017 4:52:41 PMI once played with people who didn't know "zinc" was a word. Sure, most of us were around 10, but the teacher didn't even know.

I don't know the rules, but id say thats cheating.

Generally, I only find it irksome that I didn't think to play the same trick

My dad is from the southern United States, and while playing scrabble with his roommate, he put down the letters m and o. My dad says, "what does mo mean?" "Well ya know mo...... like....give me some mo" 😐

Git gud

I don't have friends to play those games with 😅....
😒
My friend and I would spend time reading the official scrabble dictionary and learning obscure and random words. Then the Words With Friends website/app cheat thing came out where you just type in your letters and it tells you what word will give you the highest score. So I stopped playing words with friends. I did think it was weird that non-english words were allowed. I was surprised to see a lot of acceptable Yiddish.

I once spelled mosquito in a game of Scrabble. One of my greatest life achievements.

Just you. I thing you should go on a vacation, like permanently. You need it.
-
If they do this start spelling racial slurs whenever possible
-
Yes. It should be specified at the start of the game which languages are valid.
-
Qi is practically English, really.
-
That's just cheap. If they want to do that they need to ask before the game starts.
-
In regards to your problem. Can you just not agree on which language to play the game?
