The winner of the first DFP Writer's Contest is Morc35! Everyone did a great job, and it was a difficult decision for the judges, but Morc's story was the one we all agreed on. Once again, great work, everyone!
To celebrate the release of the beta early access for Destiny 2, and to keep the interest up, Destiny Fiction Producers is hosting a contest for the community. The challenge is to write a Destiny short-story, down in the comment section below that best portrays your version of "a world without Light".
The contest begins today, July 18th, and will end on August 18th. All submissions after that will not be included in the judging. All you have to do is post your story in the comments section, but remember, you have five weeks to write, edit, and post your work.
The winner will be announced on August 20th, the following Sunday. The winner will receive a code for a $20 Playstation Store card or a $20 Xbox Store card as the prize.
Rules:
1) This is a friendly competition, so keep the comments nice and/or constructive.
2) If you want to edit your story after it is posted, go ahead, just leave #Finished to let the judges know it is ready.
3) Please do not post your story multiple times. The judges will read them all.
4) Be original. If two stories seem identical, and it is difficult to confirm which was the original, then the judges will skip over both and move on to the next.
Theme:
Just as is the theme of Destiny 2, the theme of this contest is "A world without Light". It is up to you to interpret that.
Prize:
The winner will be announced on August 20th, and will receive a $20 gift card for Playstation or Xbox.
Prize Redemption:
I will private message the winner of the contest, and I will send one code for the aforementioned gift card based on personal preference.
Keep fighting, Guardians

I don't even want the card. I'm just gonna make my story. *3 hours after the attack on the city....A hunter, a Titan, and a Warlock are trudging through the wilderness, trying to find others like them....weak....without light.....* The Titan, Theo, started head butting a tree. "GOD DAMN THE MOTHER -blam!-ING CABAL!!!!! WHY!!!!?!" The hunter, Craig, and the warlock, Ash, looked at Theo. "Dude, if you keep yelling, every Cabal will hear us," Craig said. "Not if the Fallen get to us first..." said Ash. "I can't believe it....the traveler...our home..." she could not finish her thought. "SON OF A RAT B####!!!!" Theo broke the tree in half with his bartered and burned helm. "How did we loose our light?! Our ghosts?! HOW!!!!" Theo then decided to punch the nearest rock. Craig listen to Ash's and Theo's concerns. He decided to be the bigger person here. "Look, we might not have light, but we have each other, and that's what counts!" Ash turned her head toward Craig. "And what good are we? We have no powers, no support..,nothing." Craig said, "Well, that's not entirely true." "Say what now?!" Yelled Theo. Craig replied calmly, "Before the city got attacked, I picked a huge energy signature of Light, near or inside the European Deadzone." He then had the full attention of Theo and Ash. "Say wha now?" they asked. Craig said, "There might be another source of Light out there, besides the traveler. Remember the classes like nightstalker, sunbreaker, and Stormcallers? They use more primal versions of the light" Theo replied, "They're still connected to the Traveler, dumbass." Ash then looked at Theo, and said, "Wait, isn't there a human colony near the EDZ?" Theo looked at Ashs blue face, "Uhhhhhh....I think?" "You think?" "What happens if I say 'I don't-'" Craig suddenly shushed them. He dropped to a crouch, and moved to a nearby tree. Ash and Theo followed his lead. Nearby they found a fallen scouting party, but with a twist.... These fallen....they were wearing pure white... A Captain asked a vandal a question, "You're sure the city was destroyed," in almost perfect English. The vandal responded, "Yes sir. Looks like they've disabled the Great machine with.. what appears to be a energy cage. This new faction of Cabal, is named the Red Legion." The captain turned back towards the burning city. "Damn...if a force like these Red Legion could do what the Eliksni could not....we better stay out of their way." The vandal looked at the captain curiously. "But, what about-?" He got no further. Theo, broke a tree branch, with his head altering every single fallen in the party. Within seconds, the guardians were taken prisoner. The captain moved toward them, and kneeled down on one knee. "You are guardians...yet you are...broken...bruised..." the captain paused. "...Without light...." he said. Ash looked at Craig, and Craig looked at ash. What was this Captain going to do to them? The captain then did the unthinkable. He laughed, and pulled them to their feet. "You're gonna need all the help you can get if you want to beat these Red Legion then!!" All three guardians looked at him in confusion, and Theo, either out of stupidness or bravery, said, "What kind of crack monkey is this guy smoking?"
