Most of you aren't Australian, so just imagine it as San Francisco voting to get rid of the 4th of July or whatever

Edited by Flee: 8/18/2017 10:14:02 PMSounds like they just to want the change the date rather than stop celebrating it altogether.

Australia isn't even real.

I have an Australian friend I play with, he's really soft spoken and kind. He was absolutely pissed about this, still plans on taking time off for aussie day every year though
-
What happened to the good old days when Australia made sense?
-
Edited by Pepe Silvia: 8/17/2017 7:35:13 PMI know nothing of the issue, but I do know a song titled fuck Melbourne.

Getting rid of the 4th of July is basically getting rid of our freedom. It could possibly happen with how many people are pussies these days
-
And what is the point of this?

Edited by albinomachina: 8/17/2017 1:13:19 AMOther than Jim Jefferies, I kind of hate all Australians. edit - just your accents. I do hold a lot of resentment over AC\DC though. Worst concert of my life.

As an American the only thing I understood from all these comments was Jim Jefferies. Silverchair

This has to be the ultimate troll attempt

I'm a New South Welshman, It's in my blood to naturally hate melbourne.
-
Didn't Australia try to ban new male recruitment in the military in favor of trying to get more women to sign up?

Your site has a paywall.. http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/three-steps-to-changing-the-date-of-australia-day/8813408 Oh and an update. The government has just stripped Yarra council of holding citizenship ceremonies. Can't see the link (it requires a subscription apparently) but this isn't a new phenomenon unfortunately. Even during primary school there was always an atmosphere of white guilt surrounding the topic of Australia day and a sizeable number of teachers suggestively nudged impressionable students towards referring to it as "invasion day."
