Title for reference.
I was wondering because I know it's coming around tomorrow and i'll more than likely miss it. I'm in Kansas and I work in an Army clinic. Totally forgot to get filters to actually appreciate the view if I wanted to.
ANYWAYS. Is it really all that dangerous? I mean I was here when Bungie first updated the website when Destiny was about to launch and had the horrendously bright white background and my retinas didn't burn then. How about if I just glance at the sun with some shades on instead?

First, and riskiest, applies if you are in the path of totality, during which there is a 7 minute window where the eclipse is safely viewable with the naked eye. It's risky because if you misjudge the timing, or if a portion of the sun is still visible, you might still damage your eyes. Second is to make a Pinhole Camera. There's a number of guides online, but you might not have the time to purchase the parts and build it. Third is to use a digital camera. You can safely view an image of the eclipse on the screen of your phone or camera (just don't look through the viewfinder), but unless you have a sun filter you run the risk of damaging the camera.
