It was how Dave said "us"
Like the last three years had never happened
It was how George walked down and threw dirt onto the casket
It was how I know you would want this to be a fast one
And not some cliché ballad
I'm slowing down in the August air
A heavy heart and shaking hands carried you up here
I buried half of a decade there
It was the better part
You'd catch the reference if only you could hear
Because I can still hear you in the bass drum beat after "I'll Catch You"
I'm left wondering if you meant anything when you typed out
"You never got me down, Ray. I never went down"
You know the -blam!-ed up part is
I kind of always knew we'd have to write a song about this
You know the -blam!-ed up part is
I had my fingers crossed that it wouldn't be for you, kid
You know the -blam!-ed up part is
It's been months, and I still have nightmares
You know the -blam!-ed up part is
I'm never going back there
You know the -blam!-ed up part is
The -blam!-ed up part is
The -blam!-ed up part is
The -blam!-ed up part is
-blam!-
(See you brother)

You're the snake hidden in my daffodils when I'm picking flowers
That's just my luck these days
Why can't you just be happy for me?
You're the brake lights failing as my car swerves off the freeway
It kind of feels like sabotage
Why can't you just be happy for
Why can't you just be happy for me?

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
He's a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
yes, the King on His sunset lies waiting for dawn
to light up His Jungle
as play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

We were born to sin
We were born to sin
We don't think we're special sir
We know everybody is
We've built too many walls
Yeah, we've built too many walls
And now we gotta run
A giant fist is out to crush us
We run in the dark
We run in the dark
We don't carry dead weight long
We send them along to heaven
I carry my baby
I carry my baby
Her eyes can barely see
Her mouth can barely breathe
I can see she's afraid
She could see the danger
We don't want to die or apologize
For our dirty God, our dirty bodies
Now, I stick to the ground
I stick to the ground
I won't look twice for the dead walls
I don't want a white pillar of salt
I carry my baby
I carry my baby
Her eyes can barely see
Her mouth can barely breathe
I can see she's afraid
That's why we're escaping
So we won't have to die, we won't have to deny
Our dirty God, our dirty bodies

As time passes by, regrets for the rest of my life
The ones who I confide were gone in the black of the night

One man came to reveal a mystery
Changing the course of history
Made the claim he was God
Ageless, born of a virgin Mary
Spoke with a voice that carried through the years
It's persevered
~
You're the only reason I stayed
In this coward's melee
I'd rather die than live without mercy and love
Sing while the city decays
We'd rather go up in flames
Lest we betray thy names of dignity and love

Snake hidden in my daffodils

Yup. Do you know what song it is?
-
I'd have to Sonos it.
-
Sonos?
-
You put the band name in then you can play every track they have ever done. £5 per month.
-
Is that like Spotify?
-
Spotify is on it ,But I use napster. It's a speaker system that you put in all rooms of your house inc bathroom . Great for parties. The controls are a phone app. Check it out you can get a play 1 for around £130 for your bedroom ,but that small speaker is quite powerful and can be plugged anywhere your wifi will reach.
